    Hi,

I got these new gaskets for headers with my kit, but it seems to have 3 layers sandwiched, is this usual ?

I have installed a fare share of headers on my cars before, but never seen this setup:

That is 3 individual gaskets in your pic? They look like the ones I got at the dealer a few months ago. I don't recall anything looking sandwiched or unique about them other than the crush ring in the center.

Yes, that was in the package. I opened it and pulled it out to look at it, and they look just like that. 3 metal gaskets on on top of the other. Packaging and all looks OEM, has Ferrari on it. Here it is

They seem to be genuine gaskets for 458 and 430, looking at eurospares by that part number

I ordered new gaskets for my recent header install and they looked identical to these. Ordered from Eurospares.

I guess that's what they want ... I will use them. Got new nuts, new doughnuts for cats, waiting for my headers to return from Inconel heat wrap :)

Same gasket when I did mine. Are you fitting new studs as well? All mine came out with the nuts attached except one where I had to use a stud extractor.

I did snap a bolt connecting the header at cat. Was seized pretty bad. I replaced all that hardware when I did mine (donut gaskets, bolts, nuts and springs).

Good point, where would I get the studs? Eurospares?

About half of my studs came out, but I had a new set on hand thanks to @LorenzoR advising me to have them ready. Hope you also have a full set of different wrenches to get the nuts off. Here is the set I ended up using.

I cut a wrench in half which helped a ton removing the old nuts. Good news is the new headers can go on (for the most part) with a 1/4" ratchet.

Those are MLS (Multi Layer Steel) gaskets. They superceded the old aluminium foil coated fibrous core type many years ago.

MLS are also used for the head gaskets on modern cars, albeit with an extra coating to aid sealing.

MLS (and RTV) are extremely reliable sealing systems.

Did you do it from under the car only , or did you also take wheels and wheel wel off?
    Thx

Under the car only. Left wheels and liners on. For the drivers side, definitely move the AC compressor out of the way. Made it way easier to get those last few bolts there. Only 3 bolts to get the compressor out so you can move it out of the way. No need to disconnect lines. I have a 4 post lift so I was able to rest the compressor right on the ramp while I did the work.

My Fabspeed headers came with new OEM gaslets, studs, nuts, and cat seals. The gaskets do have mutiple layers and should look like bright stainless steel.
