    2nd here ............

I don't know if there is an equation to calculate the light weight/horsepower advantage but I'm sure that 40/50 hp on ICE can bring them out.....

The question will be how long you will wait, Japan is now the third largest market , the UK has dropped down the list. Even if you are a good customer holding several cars the country has to get the allocation first before the dealer then the customer .

I totally understand your view point in and from the (Consumable) points
But I am more come from a general logic point
Buy a 296C if you want that. The standard 296 even with the extra weight of it hybrid system it has a lot more power and the electric motor give better performance. so should still out lap a non hybrid version(but yes Consumable) Personally I think they should just offer a non hybrid standard base model. This is a shock for me as I really don't like the EV/Hybrid thing at all and would prefer a lighter less power non hybrid model full stop. But to make a Vs and de power it over the standard model is not right

Isn't it a little unusual that we haven't seen much in the way of 296VS prototypes driving around Maranello lately? I thought the 296VS was supposed to be announced next year.

I recall seeing a bunch of potential prototypes a while back, but lately it seems quiet. Has there been any activity over the past few months?

I don’t really think it’s that interesting of a proposition to drop the hybrid. So the special version of the 296 is then less powerful and heavier than a 2016 McLaren 720S? Or less powerful than a Pista? How riveting…

And for those who are banging on about how cars don’t need more power and 680 hp would be perfect, blah blah. Those cars exist. Right now. For sale. Go buy a 488 or 675 LT.

296 is the "fun to drive' category of car.
My view is that a very light non hybrid 296 would be great fun to drive.
You can take a cynical view of it ( which in AM's case I am inclined to do) but the advertising blurb for the latest Aston Martin Vantage is interesting as it is all about driving experience not outright performance.I can see this becoming a trend.
I'm sure the VS will be great whatever Ferrari do but speculating about stuff like this is part of the attraction of these threads.

It won’t be very light tho relative to what McLaren has already produced. The 765 obliterates a Pista (cue someone posting zeperfs to dispute who’s never driven them) because it had more HP and weighed 100 KG less. It took Ferrari the massive power of the hybrid to finally match or best the McLaren in terms of pace. It would be a step back to do anything but progress that forward.

I’d rather have a Pista than a TT V6 non hybrid 296 weighing nearly the same and making less power.

It is well known that 100% of owners use the full potential of 680 hp perfectly on open road !!!:rolleyes:

IC was fantastic but evolution of sports cars, supercars, hypercars, etc dictate that it is not enough by itself. The key is some sort of electric assist system and/or finding a way to massively reduce the weight of the batteries.

The only thing stopping EVs from dominating is weight and it doesnt seem likely for that to be resolved in the near future.

Hyundai Iconic N series will be interesting to watch as they are making a stab at it with their new hot hatch.

IC arent going anywhere until the EV weight problem is solved. Hybrid system is the overall King / jack of all trades.

296+ will continue to be a lightweight version of the 296 and maintain hybrid system.

The 2024 program increased from 2 to 3 model launches at the last earnings call - whilst the third could be the F167 spider it could instead be the 296VS I guess - if not then it must be due early 2025

Haven't seen any 296VS specific mules yet in Maranello. I suspect we are a ways off unfortunately.

could be non hybrid this VS. BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW!

i mean- the V6 alone makes nearly 700 hp in the 296GTB. the 720S/750S need a TT V8 to get 700+ but tech advances baby. so why could a V6 TT not make 700+ hp and save the battery and all associated weight of about +200lbs by 2025? it'll be a killer !!!!!

someone go get me an espresso. BTW- the coffee shops in Florence Italy rock. just came from there.
