This 812 GTS camouflaged mule was recently seen around Maranello on several occasions. As Ferrari a few months ago already suspended worldwide all new orders for the 812 GTS, the use of a mule related to an outgoing model does not seem to make much sense. Therefore, it is very likely that this mule has some connection with the future F167 "GTS".

    Now back to names…
The Ferrari 850 Ribot- name after a famous undefeated Italian racehorse
(If Lambos are named after bulls, Ferrari should name after horses!)Or sticking with Race car drivers the 850 Fangio or the 850 Mario(as in Andretti)

It makes perfect sense. If you can’t take the likely, regardless of when you sell it, $100k to $200k depreciation hit on the car then you don’t have an appropriate net worth to be buying a $500k car.

There's a big difference between not being able to afford a $200k hit and not caring about it.

Perhaps the better wording is that if depreciation plays a major factor in determining if one should buy a luxury item, perhaps one should save the money instead…

    ;)

Exactly! Cars and boats depreciate. That’s their job.

Perhaps. I just don't get the logic.

The cost to own a car is not its sticker price. It's the depreciation (plus taxes and other costs to keep it on the road).

I'll only buy a luxury item if I can easily afford the worst-case depreciation. But it's very logical to prefer an item that's expected to hold it's value over one that's likely to tank. That doesn't mean one can't afford it. It just means that you should expect the latter item to cost more, so it better be worth more to you.

(Ironically, I plan to keep my Ferraris forever, so don't actually care about their depreciation at all. But when I buy other - cheaper - cars, I do. Go figure.)

It’s pretty simple. F167 is a regular production car. So it’s going to depreciate at the same rate as a 458 Italia or F12 Berlinetta whether it’s the last regular production V12 or not. So get any thought about ‘holding its value’ out of your head. The regular production F167 variants will be made in the thousands and will therefore depreciate normally and significantly. Limited number VS different story.

I have no such illusions about the production F167. I expect it to depreciate and will buy one anyway. That doesn't mean that I don't care about the depreciation. It just means that the cost is worth it to me.

I completely agree with all the other points you made in your post, I thought it was very well said.

I’m with you. The capabilities, driving enjoyment and design of this car are going to make it worth the inevitable depreciation. This is a car maybe not for the to be stored and never opened wine collector but for the connoisseur who actually wants to drink and enjoy the wine.

I'm with you. These cars are meant to driven!

And hey, to each his own, but if fear of depreciation would keep someone from enjoying their car, that would be a real shame. Pretty sure we agree on that one. :)

Cannot wait to see this car.

How many here said that you absolutely can't get more horsepower out of the F140 Enzo-based block? That was 651hp in 2002! Its still in production with the 812 and PS and soon F167. Not going away.

This is not a question of engineering ability but of political will within the company.

To those who doubt whether this is the last regular production V12,
    flock around and find out

A Raptor is a Supertruck, just like a Ferrari is a Supercar. It wins its category in Baja every year. So often it's boring. :D

    Just in fun, of course.

F167 may not an easy to receive allocation - it's been said to receive allocation it requires owning an 812 currently.
Ferrari has changed the engine on models as they age - Puro.
Why would Ferrari do this engine change?
Whatever that reason may be might also apply to F167,

Ferrari slowly releases information before during and after the debut - leaks are what they are.

I do understand that. It is probably simply a semantic thing. I look at purchasing a new Ferrari in a similar way as going on a really expensive vacation or adventure. The value is in the experience of ordering, receiving and enjoying the car. I don’t expect to get a financial return at all. If I do, then that’s a bonus.

Other cars, not so much! Depreciation drop in the Mercedes really torqued me!! LOL :)
