Sainz's win is absolutely orthogonal wrt anything Lance did in Australia.

Sainz only got half the benefit that Lance received;) Carlos should petition that he be granted one extra place next race:D

But hey, Carlos is the best driver in F1, passing using DRS a car that had its brakes on. Hamilton is a worthless driver because his engine crapped out. The torturous and twisting logic that abounds in these threads, especially following a race, is always enjoyable.

He benefitted one spot - I think 2nd, had he not been able to beat a full strength RB, would still have been an excellent result. Stroll's result, not so much...

Stroll needs to go. The poster child of nepotism. Don’t get me wrong, can’t blame anyone for being born on 3rd base. I ain’t mad he is a billionaire heir, that’s good on him! However how can a private shareholder be pleased that he’s taking up a seat only to be consistently beaten?

    That’s just bad business.

    Suzuka Qualifying 2024

Stroll just taking a drive in an F1 car around Suzuka. Got kicked out of Q1 while his team-mate turns that car into P2 in Q1. He was off 1:15sec from his team-mate.

Alonso gets that car to P5 at the end of qualifying.

Lance never does this type of admission lol

Sargeant: Suzuka F1 crash not the kind of "silly error" I should be making
Logan Sargeant admitted he made a “silly error” when he had a huge crash in FP1 at the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix.

I heard on the broadcast that Stroll was fitted with the upgrades and they team had to break curfew to fit the new parts on Alonso's car for Saturday. I can't confirm if this is true, but papa Stroll has done this before in the past. That has to be the biggest insult. The kid sucks and his teammates are always out performing and of course the best shot at points, yet the team treat Lance as #1. Lets not give Alonso the best chance at perhaps a fight for the podium, lets make Lances car better so he can still not get out of Q3. I sure hope Alonso gets a seat with Red Bull or Mercedes. He deserves so much better.

    First Lance..........then Alonso.

Sounds like those upgrades are downgrades.

Wouldn't be the first time AM has moved backwards with new parts.

Maybe AM wasn't sure the new parts would work and thus deliberately gave them to Lance first not to jeopardize Alonso's run.

Yeah you never know with AMR. I get worried when they bring updates... that's how bad their track record is. Too early to tell on the Japan upgrades, but Alonso definitely had a strong quali. How much is from upgrades and how much is just from him being one of the best drivers... who knows.

Let's not forget that at the eve of the Japanese GP, Lance Stroll stands 9th in the WDC ranking, and the vastly more talented Hamilton only 10th. The positions will fluctuate during the season, no doubt.

Old man Stroll should buy Williams and employ Lance and Ricardo as the drivers. This will give the old man the illusion of being an F1 team owner and fulfill Lance's and Ricardo's fantasy that they are racers. Meanwhile the old man can sell AM to Andretti.

Lance's delta to Alonso in qualifying was way higher than it normally is. Yes Alonso is the much better driver and thus faster but this time the difference seems much more than usual. Wouldn't be surprised if it came down to material/"up"grades.

If true, then that's really bad. To put it differently: If Lance was so much slower because he is Lance, that would be less of a disaster. But if the "up"grades are truly downgrades, then the team as a whole is in trouble. So while I'm rooting for Lance, I'm actually hoping he just had a bad day and not the parts caused this.

Who says ? The FIA ? Liberty ? Domenicalli ? the other drivers ? the other team principals ? Mike Krack ? Fernando Alonso ?
Apart from some pundits and his detractors on FC, I have never heard of any "need', obligation, or rule to force him to leave. This is a business between Lance Stroll and his team. His presence in F1 is legitimate.
And please, stop comparing him with his team mate ! At least half the grid, if not more, wouldn't do better than Lance (10th in 2023) against Alonso, a twice WDC who finished 4th last season.
Also, the notion that he is blocking a seat from more deserving candidates is also a fallacy if one looks at the situation in some other teams.

Stroll Sr of course, after all he pays the bills. my “he has to go” is my opinion, not a claim there is some legal rule that is being violated. I compare drivers all the time, I mean isn’t that the point? I guess we can put away stop watches and vote at the end of the day, wait - can’t even do that , we’ll just declare them all winners and call it a day. Can’t compare people to others and all.

You can compare, but if a driver came legitimatelly in F1 and someone keeps paying for him, he can stay as long as he wants as long as he doesn't break any rule, IMO. Stroll finished 15th and 10th in the 2 last seasons: he is certainly not a tail-ender. I don't understand the call for his father to replace him. Shouldn't people concentrare on other drivers who presend even less result ?
