Posted elsewhere, but as a designer, thought here would also honor his life. RIP. pininfarina_official It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Chairman Paolo Pininfarina, who left us today in Turin at the age of 65. Until his last moments, he was surrounded by his loved ones, including his wife Ilaria, his children Greta, Giovanni, Iole, Tullio, and Giulia, his mother Giorgia Gianolio. Paolo Pininfarina’s legacy extends far beyond his familial ties; he was a driving force behind the company founded by his grandfather Battista in 1930. Serving as Chairman since 2008, Paolo’s dedication, enthusiasm, and energy propelled Pininfarina into new realms of design excellence. His leadership guided the company through a diversification process in the 1980s, expanding its influence beyond automotive design to become a benchmark in various design fields. Today, we mourn the loss of a visionary leader, but we also celebrate the enduring impact of Paolo Pininfarina’s life and work. His spirit will continue to inspire us as we carry forward his legacy of innovation and excellence. Our thoughts and condolences are with the Pininfarina family during this difficult time.
What is that graphic in the center of the grill? I see a swimmer with one arm up and the other down. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's the Alfa Logo! And don't ask me why it looks like that. Kinda stylized as it were. Image Unavailable, Please Login No one said it had to make any sense.
It's a little man being birthed by The Biscione (snake of the Visconti family), one of the heralds of Milan. On the left is the municipal cross of Milan: Image Unavailable, Please Login Together they are the emblem of Alfa Romeo. All the best, Andrew.
https://www.touringsuperleggera.eu/en/models/touring-arese-rh95-vento-doro/ Touring's 5th Arese Rh95 project. It's a 488 Pista underneath. Would love to see some daylight shots with it glistening. I think they did a solid job on this one, It's easy to get carried away when someone hands you the gold tape... Image Unavailable, Please Login Meticulous attention to detail and visionary design gives the Arese RH95 Vento D’Oro a sporty and elegant profile that appeals to both style and adrenaline enthusiasts. Whether on the streets or the racetrack, this showstopper captivates with its dynamic aesthetic. Harmonizing elegance and sportiness, the Arese RH95 Vento D’Oro showcases a stunning combination of white and gold details. It's giving me Porsche/Maserati mashup vibes on the front end and Bugatti vibes on the rear. Interesting looking design. They have a video presentation too, although half of it is about sand and the other half is about the gold accent stripes they put on it, so I'm guessing they're targeting affluent Middle Eastern purchasers. All the best, Andrew.
Every day I'm amazed at how fast the technology is changing. So in keeping with Oprah. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is supposed to be the zr1. imo a vast improvement over the z06. It has the C8R vibe down, the rear wing looks far more serious and purposeful than the z06 and the vented hood is a must. Really wish these features would migrate toa real z06, ie a somewhat lightened car more track focused. To me the z06 is a half half car. its got the mtor, but retains the frunk and easy to put in golf clubs ability, that works against its track prowess. Here we have what look to be the right bits, and imo a vast styling improvement for purpose, but the zr1 will be heavier and therefore less track focused car, unless youre talking 3 blitz laps till the tires melt.. The rear wing and front end of this car to my eyes give it what it needs and takes away awkwardness or imbalance of form which the other c8 variants have. This one is pure aggression which is Lambo like and what a hi po vette should be. too bad the compromised the z06, this should at least be part of the z07 package, or call it z08 and loose the heavy electric seats too. Yeah its still a bit of an edgy kid with crayons design, as opposed to beauty of form ferrai, but these even more edgy bits give it what it needs, and their outrageousness fits the large scale of the car imo. Put another way, the vette carries off this look in a way the new Gt3 does not, and it adds tot he car as oppsed to the appendage look of the Gt3..
Student-Made Zonda Tribute Is Prettier Than Anything Pagani’s Done in 13 Years Design students sculpted a modern Zonda for the model’s 25th anniversary, and Pagani ought to take notes. Thankfully, students from the Instituto Europeo di Design (IED) created a gorgeous homage to the Zonda, and it's better looking than anything Pagani's crafted since. this EV craze reminds me of the early 1900’s when there were hundreds of car makers. eventually that was whittled down to the current US manufacturers. history repeating itself.
ICE vs. Electric vs. Steam All hail to Charles F. Kettering who invented the self-starter first introduced on the 1912 Cadillac! Image Unavailable, Please Login Look, Ma! No crank!
We can only hope cooler minds prevail and this gets lost for production; a bit too awkward and chintzy to be clever. If you really must, lose the tiny & now redundant badge from the hood. Until this, I had admired the fact that Alfa Romeo has uniquely managed to update its traditional upright grille over the decades and still have it look contemporary. This one is a bit sad to see -
Interestingly, we don't see too much of Touring on this thread, although they have outlasted many (most?) of their contemporaries. It seems they have managed to cultivate a clientele where others were unable, and they manage to produce one or two interesting projects per year most notably for Aston-Martin of late. This is nice enough in elevation, though a bit too white shoes & gold necklace. I guess the odd paint scheme is a result of its choice of name, but I think the result would be nicer without it.
