I am not sure what your angle is here with the enthusiast on the forum. You criticize, you be little and you are relentless on telling 812 owners that the car they love and enjoy is a hunk of metal that tanks faster than the titanic in mid ocean. Great addition you are to this conversation

  2. Any time I buy a high end car, exotic or otherwise, a Ferrari or some other marque, I've already come to terms that I'm essentially doing this ...

    And I'm ok with it.

If I am, why can't others be?

    It's my money after all.

It’s actually the exact opposite. People trying to persuade others that ANY regular production exotic is not going to depreciate over time are doing others a disservice and I am helping people by trying to prevent them from falling for that delusional narrative. And I’m right.

The reality is the recent cars that have maintained and eventually appreciated in value has been the special edition cars. The days of Ferrari putting out a regular production car that appreciated in value ended in the 1980s when their production volume was markedly lower. Scarcity creates demand which results in higher prices.
Would I like to be Thanos and make half the GTSs disappear? Sure, my GTS would appreciate overnight and stay there in all probability.
Buy the cars because you want them
and enjoy them for what they are: cars, not investment vehicles. The profit is the smiles per mile. What is that worth to you is a different question.

That has no bearing on the credibility of my statements. Market value history and price precedent of used regular production Ferraris are available to anyone.

It basically breaks down this way. You attempted to speak as an authority using such absolute tone and terms, yet you do not own a Ferrari. Remember, judgement is a result of experience and knowledge combined. Your knowledge is from reading the price trend of past cars on internet, yet you don't have any experience first hand as you said you don't own any Ferrari. Ergo, you should speak about your judgement with certain degree of humility as your judgement cannot be considered authoritative for the reasons above. There is a lot of things that go into a sale of a preowned Ferrari. The identity of the owners, history, specs besides the usual years and mileage mean much more in Ferrari car transactions. Average can be obtained, yes, but you forgot one thing - we are not average car owners in a general sense.

Leave your hubris where it belongs and it is not here.

Some people just love to be wrong I guess. I never said whether I own a Ferrari or not. Again, that has no bearing on historical price trends which are plain for all to see and which by definition factor everything you discussed into the prices.

I think a well thought out defense from you given my argument focusing on judgement constituents will be to share how many Ferrari you have or even had, becaue that will increase the credibility of your authority on this subject.

Just saying "I never said whether I own a Ferrari or not." is a reflexive defense.

You wanted people to believe what you said, right? Or are you just running your mouth here and trolling the current 812 GTS owners?

I am so ready for the F167 to be announced and my 812SF value to plummet while I’m waiting for the new car!

Oh wait, I’m not selling the 812SF even after the F167 arrives!

    :)

Anyhow, Forza, I’m not understanding why the harping on depreciation of the V12 is important to you. It just seems a silly hill to die on. Particularly in this thread. All of us who have owned several Ferraris - serially and/or in parallel - are very aware of the cost of ownership.

I’m only railing against regular production car depreciation deniers, specifically the small cohort who allege that the 812 GTS is magically exempt from the laws of used car price gravity. This is not a referendum on the virtues of the 812 GTS.

Without further belaboring this topic, if I was opining about which car is better to take on a long road trip, the 812 SF or the 812 GTS, as a topical example, it would at least make a modicum of sense that my opinion on that subject would be ownership dependent. Researching used car prices requires no such experiential reference and therefore your entire premise and question to me is illogical and not relevant. Thank you for the gentlemanly discourse. All the best.

I think an Italian city name that will provoke both imagination and reminiscing sentiments fits this F167.

I'm kind of new here. Has any car gone so close to the reveal date without being leaked? They're doing a surprisingly good job.
