    I got this very nice 308 GTS last year: very nice indeed, but unfortunately the engine needs -at least- an heads service to fix the weared valve seats. Knowing very well myself, I will replace also valves, guides and probably pistons + sleeves too. And without forgetting a full carbs rebuilding...

    The car has been sent to Toni Auto at Maranello: they have just started the engine rebuilding process.

    It looks to be expensive!

    Keep us posted on progress (and costs, if you care to). One of my cousins (in Milano) is considering buying a 308. My other cousin in Napoli runs this: https://www.carovanaromantica.it/ I went on the 2019 rally in a rented TR6. :). Would have been more fun in a 308.

    Great start! I got a very nice gasket set for the 308 engine from Guarnizioni Sangiuliano in Agrate Brianza. He makes them himself using the original machinery. Keep us posted of where you find any wear. Are you doing some of the work yourself?

    you are probably speaking about Sangalli gaskets, not Sangiuliano.

    No, I won't do anything by myself: all the work will be made by Toni Auto.

    I will only check what they are doing and taking the final decision about what rebuilding and what not.

    If it's $30-$40K you have a fresh motor for the rest of your life. You can't buy a new crap toyota for that.
