    Lol, indeed! :D:D

A good friend's Grandmother used to baby sit him when he was a baby, she used to tell everyone that story. Myself included, every time I saw which was over 100 times lol

She passed away around 10 years ago now unfortunately, but she was a lovely old lady and she said he was a very cute baby.

He's definitely #2 around these parts the old Shark. :p:p

    What a day..........

I was just sleeping for night shifts, my sister in-law Samantha comes over and knocks on my window in a mad panic to wake me up a few hours ago now. She never tried to call, wanted to tell me in person.

I get to the front door and she's crying, tells me everyone is OK..............but Nicole and the kids were just in a massive car accident. The car accident is on the local news in Mackay coming up at 4pm, I just talked to Nicole again on the phone.

Nicole was driving, my other sister in-law Danielle in the front passenger seat and 3x kids in the back seat of Nicoles 2014 top of the range Prado Kakadu.

Samantha told me a Mack B-double didn't stop in time and rear ended her Prado into another car in front of her, both cars sitting at an intersection to turn off the main highway turning into Proserpine. They were driving to Proserpine to the beach to take the kids swimming just after they had some lunch at some coffee shop along the way.

Lucky it didn't push the car in front into on-coming traffic as it's a 100 km/h zone there she said. That may have been fatal for the people in the car in front of her. The car is front was an old Toyota Hiace backpackers van. It may have been one of Klinks rentals. The rear end of the bongo van is smashed in now from the Prado. It pushed their van onto the other side of the road and into the scrub. The driver of van has a broken nose and facial cuts from smashing her face into the steering wheel, her passenger was unharmed. Sounds like it may have ruined their driving holiday around Australia.

Nicole split her head open, dunno how as that Prado has 200 airbags in it. I assume as it was a rear ender, the airbags in the front didn't deploy as quick as they would in a front-end collision, so she probably head butted the A-pillar before the 200 airbags went off in the car. Nicole also has or thinks she has broken ribs as she can't breath properly. I called her at the hospital straight after Samantha told me the news. She hung the phone up when they were taking her in for a chest x-ray. She has since been cleared of any broken ribs, but still finding it hard to breath, maybe some anxiety going on still. They also glued a 2" split across the top of her forehead back together. I can officially call her Scarface now.

Danielle is 100% ok for now, didn't get a mark on her but she's a bit sore.

One of my twin girls was knocked out for a few minutes, she was sitting in the middle 2nd row, but came to and is ok for now thank god. She has a black eye though, only explanation is she must have hit her head on the factory roof mounted DVD player when the truck smashed into the back of the car. She is layed up on the hospital bed and the Doctors reckon she's ok after some basic tests they did on her, but she don't look ok to me and wants to sleep and has a massive headache she said.

Other twin girl is ok, was sitting in the 2nd row back left, but has a big mark around her neck from the seat belt and a sore tummy, but she is ok for now. She was smiling when I was talking to her which is good.

They both just turned 12 two days ago. I just talked to them for the first time now, brought tears to my eyes seeing them so upset, but they are ok which is the main thing.

The little one is 7 and she was sitting 2nd row in her booster seat behind Nicole whom was driving and she is ok also, but has a big mark around her neck from the seat belt. She also just showed me via video call that she bit her top lip and she showed me the mark around her neck from the seat belt and also where they took a blood test on her arm. In the video she was very sad.

Nicole couldn't get the back car doors open to get the kids out, the rear end of the car is stoved in and front end ****ed of course from going into the car in front. Lucky they didn't have anyone sitting in the 3rd row, they would have probably been killed. My kids love sitting in the 3rd row, I bet they will be too scared to sit in there now because of this accident which is a shame. Kids can get scarred for life from **** like this as in 20 years time they will still remember the day that the rear of Mum's car was smashed in and they got hurt.

They were all taken away in the Ambulance and are all at the Proserpine hospital getting checked over, hopefully everyone will be ok. I am not sure if whiplash or any other injuries can come back to haunt you days/weeks or months later as it was a BIG hit apparently.

Insurance just spent $20K fixing the Prado after it was stolen last October, now it's a write off Nicole said. I haven't seen pics of the car yet. Car came back like brand new from the panel shop, inside and out only two weeks ago and I just drove the car to Mackay last week to give it back to Nicole.

My insurance won't cover the cost to replace the car of course, the car is insured for $48K and it's $100K to purchase a brand new one. Even to find the exact same 2014 Prado Kakadu, they are asking $60K+ for the same year model/kms etc as Toyota has the best re-sale in the world.

I don't know if his insurance will cover the cost to replace the car, or do I use $48K of my insurance and his insurance pays the difference if I find a car to purchase? I don't know how it works.

Just before I called Nicole at the hospital, she the Police were there and did an interview with her. She told them what happened, and the Policemen told her the truck driver has admitted guilt and said that he couldn't slow down in time which is how he caused this accident.

The dash cam footage from his truck automatically alerts the owner of the company, so the owner of the company called his driver straight away and attacked him over the accident and the owner of the trucking company also talked to the Police. The Policemen relayed this information onto Nicole at the hospital and she told me.

I also have the brand new BlackVue 4K twin camera kit in that Prado, so Nicole will go back home to Mackay tonight and tomorrow or the next day she will find out where the Prado ends up and I told her to go and get the memory card from the camera.

That camera is brand new, was replaced with a brand new one from when those ****s stole the car, so she hasn't had time to enter the password into her BlackVue app on her phone to download the video footage. So we will have to pull the memory card out as I want to see that video footage.

Thank **** everyone is ok and hopefully there are no issues moving forward. Nicole said her body is starting to ache all over now and I told her the adrenaline is wearing off and she will be sore for the rest of the week.

Mate, if the twin lost consciousness and has a black eye, is sleepy etc, she needs a CT scan of her head pronto. Don’t let them **** around

    Cheers man, yep, I agree.

I asked Nicole before if they did a CT scan on her but she said they didn't as CT scans are not good for kids if they can avoid doing them, but they did some basic neurological tests on her and said she is ok from what they saw.

I don't know how true that is, and as much as I like to think I am a Doctor, I am not.

Thanks mate, part of me wants to be there, but the other part of me says there is nothing I can do.

They all pretty much "walked away from it" so probably best if I just stay here for now.

Well, depending on the outcome of the little one of course. I just told Nicole to get the Doctor back to talk to him again about a CT scan.

I am off to work now, but I will keep in touch with the Wife from work.

    Thanks JM, I will do.

They are in Proserpine hospital, not sure how big their hospital is, maybe they don't have a CT machine there which is why they won't or can't do one.

Mackay is an hour back down the road, worst case go to the Mackay hospital. I will find out more asap.

    OMG

What a load of fkn bull ****!!!

If it means excluding a serious head injury, the radiation dose is not a consideration. In any case, the dose is dialed down for kids and not an issue. Chances are there is an overseas trained Dr running the joint on a weekend so keep a close eye on your daughter

Always best to be safe than sorry, maybe you should head there and sort them out?

Jesus Christ, Pap, that's terrible! I reiterate what Greg said - don't let them send your daughter home. She needs a full workup. The truckie's insurance will pay for the full cost of a replacement car, and also for a loaner car - check it out.

No doubt that's true, but that's BS.

We're at the shack at the moment.
Last Saturday evening Chloe came off her paddle-board and landed badly.

Sunday I drove her in to Whyalla hospital (40 min drive) and took her to the ED.
Despite it being Sunday and there being no radiology normally on duty, they called them up immediately and got her scanned.
Serious break. Surgery was done on Thursday, and we're sitting here for another week before she'll be ok to tackle the 4 and a half hour drive home.

WTF is going on in QLD Health?
They're not going to call someone in because of a possible overtime payment?

    Unnaceptable.
