Picked mine up today. Good little unit, overall I’m impressed for the price. The fit is more OEM than the single DINs that have a trim ring as this one goes edge to edge. The wiring diagrams didn’t mention a mic connection, but I did see the hole for it and confirmed with the diagram on top that there is indeed a connection for a mic for those wanting to use one for calls. It also has front and rear camera inputs which is nice. Connection was easy. There are powered speaker outs but it doesn’t give the rating. It just says to use speakers rated at more than 40 watts. I’m using the stock vehicle amp anyway so those were not used for my install. I did take a moment to tidy things up with some braided split loom though. Of course, all the connections are soldered and heat shrinked. Make sure to ground your brake cable line if you want to disable the parking switch It has an equalizer built in which is nice and you can swap between a few preset button colors. Nothing customizable though for the colors. There are also six default backgrounds but no way to add more. As a side note, I connected the GPS antenna even though I’m not using any GPS provided by the unit. I’ve encountered in the past where certain features were disabled unless the antenna was connected for some reason and I didn’t want to take things back out again if that was the case with this unit.
Looks great! Did you need anything additional from what was in the box? Wiring harnesses and such? Nicolas
Messaged you the link but basically just the harness adapter and that’s it. And a separate mic if you want as it doesn’t come with one.
Is there a built in mic? Where do you get harness adapter if you don’t want a separate amp? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Figures you guys would find this a week after I got a Pioneer (7600) installed . The link isn’t working, how are you finding them in the stores?
Yes, there seems to be a built in mic, although some of the reviews I’ve seen don’t talk favorably about it. I don’t have any personal experience though. As for the harness adapter, I’m using the Metra 70-1786: https://www.amazon.com/Metra-70-1786-Harness-Mercedes-Landrover/dp/B0007WRQG2/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1U0GJ63DFL6TR&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ic3YKKJU45HUwqlHnkE1UrvjSHAFeR09w-PHHhlzFp9dyjSG54XnBX3ujvYOE4jsU8Mf68CJ6s9o-xscUi-wmRqNdUu2UuFVQAWNYRUEYhL456TsP0oT0Apm4A8wvpTCr4n_2_1Zqar78d9dUqthb1Ir6_WpB0_LF_jXzntErdIjppoiWsvOeYbqZwEkBJwyzN7YIuXWyVvQskjehbqVnkaGND5LJhK_KLjh7XKzx3FpiJAaesu9VwdzzgJ-nNy6zX7eZUb-0hBNLFFD3xaX2ePw0CULf6UH0NaEsvTX_Ac.Qu2rKUA7LsonR5Z8XZaaJce2mCyAXe-uxVAMf-unmVI&dib_tag=se&keywords=Metra+70-1786&qid=1713113723&s=electronics&sprefix=metra+70-1786,electronics,125&sr=1-1 There are some other brand equivalents as well. I’m not using a separate aftermarket amp, just the factory amp that’s in the vehicle. Most of these factory Becker units (like the stock Ferrari head unit) relied on a separate amp so the factory harness is looking for a pre-amp signal, not a powered signal. If you have distortion after connecting a line level harness adapter, then you likely need a pre amp signal like mine. I don’t know what options or configurations were available for the 360/430 over the years so I don’t know if this applies to everybody or just those with the Bose system or those with Bose and the HiFi system. @SoftwareDrone would likely be more knowledgeable in what’s needed for some cars. If you’re using a non-factory amp, then you can just bypass all those connections anyway and run RCA cables directly from the unit to the amp. I usually take the time to de-pin anything I don’t use, but I wanted to keep everything on mine intact in case I didn’t like the unit.
The Walmart site is super finicky. If you’re logged in and have a local store setup, it won’t pull up at all if it’s not available in the store you selected. Best way is to make sure you’re logged out (if you have an account) and delete all your cookies for the site. I had to do this a few times while browsing different stores. It’s a huge pain.
I actually just messaged @SoftwareDrone on this exact topic. I have the HiFi system in mine. Was wondering if I need the harness you linked to or if I can just use the radio harness and the harness from scuderia audio and wire it directly like that.
if you already have an aftermarket head unit and are using a harness adapter, then I would just reuse that if it’s already working well.
Just to clarify, for this harness you linked to, the RCA end plugs into the new head unit and the other black end accepts the existing stock Ferrari / Becker wiring? My car does not have the factory Hi-Fi option, just standard radio. Thanks! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was beginning to think I was done with projects - but thankfully saw this thread I changed out my factory head unit for an Alpine unit (with separate amp) 5 years ago - but have never cared for the functionality of the head unit (not user friendly) and the look never seemed quite right. This option, at least aesthetically, looks like a better choice. Stopped in at my local Wal-Mart and picked one up. Hope to install it in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing the find.
@GogglesPisano do we need the radio adapter also? Guessing I need an adapter for the factory Ferrari GPS (wiclic) to this head unit (what type?) unless it has an antenna.
The radio antenna plugs right in. Didn’t even think there might be a gps antenna adapter. Not sure which one it would be though.
