I agree wholeheartedly. A car is not a stock. It doesn’t go up and down. It just goes down. Who cares? Stop fretting over it. Stop expecting it to not go down. Just buy it and enjoy it and expect to lose roughly half of what you paid for it when you sell it.

Do not agree at all. I can afford to pay but money is hard earned and if I had that attitude. I would not have the money to pay in the first place !

Also it should be discussed, if Ferrari are getting greedier and greedier, now costing an additional €100,000 for interior and exterior carbon, which is a joke.
Then there's all the other very expensive extras and the ridiculously expensive base price for essentially a higher GTC4 Lusso. So they are setting their clients up for a massive price fall. Very few people want have to spend £420,000 on a hybrid SUV, It should have cost no more than £250,000 plus extras currently running at £105,000.

Also I drove the car on cold damp roads and it was bad to drive , guy from Novitec found it very skittish. Could not not put the power down at all, unlike a GTC4 or FF. German guy who took delivery, (the only other person, I know who drove ) said it was terrible and was wondering other to sell. My dealer has had its demo car for 3 months and has not registered it , I asked for feedback from other drivers and they said there was none, as I was the only person allowed to drive it.

A guy I know is getting a test drive next week, will be interesting.

I personally think its ok to loose €30,000 per year but I would be an absolute fool to loose €100,000 for the first and €75,000 for the second and third.
BTW its already started, visited a UK dealer yesterday, three brand new cancelled ordered Puros for sale at list but unadvertised and I think if I asked , I could have got a small discount.

Perhaps it should be “afford or tolerate the loss”. It’s all a matter of how one thinks about it. Someone may be able to afford a $500k week long vacation, but not be able to tolerate the fact that there is no residual value other than having the experience. I can easily afford a $100 hamburger. But do I really want to spend that much for it? Probably not. Same with a $2,000 bottle of scotch.

Seems to me that if someone needs a significant residual value in a Ferrari, it is probably not the purchase because the high likelihood is that there will be relatively small residual value. And this is not a percentage but actual dollar, since almost every car drops precipitously as soon as driven off the lot.

Now whether the Puro is as solid to drive in wet conditions as the Lusso - that is a different question. That speaks to whether or not the thing will deliver the desired experience.

I mean, it is what it is. If not comfortable with a purchase, best to move on and not begrudge the maker or the pricing. Lots of other fish in the lake. Ferrari didn't become Ferrari by being out of touch with their audience.

Being a publicly traded company does have relevance. With the Roma, 296 and Puro Ferrari is in fact putting customers first - only they are a different and wider group now. Those customers are most likely new to the brand such as myself with a 296 on order. I was offered an allocation for the Puro but declined since I'm not now and have never been into SUVs. I feel Ferrari has put me, as a newbie to the brand, first and I do appreciate that very much. Different story with Porsche altogether.

There are pros and cons. I can just tell you all that the PS I spent several hours driving, and I drove it hard, spectacularly fulfills what I see as its mission. And I am very excited to receive mine.

The value is always a discussion, but to my mind and to my use case- this is a semi daily vehicle with the heart of a Ferrari V12 supercar. I am someone for whom the Ferrari V12 NA is more than worth it. I cannot wait.

Correct , Ferrari v12 is the best driving experience in the world IMO. Drive the pure and see how it behaves in that

I think the difference is one loves a PS because theyre forced to, not because they want to. If it wasn’t for vip, very few enthusiasts wld actually buy the PS. And thats why they cant mass produce them.

Nobody is forcing me to. It just happens to be the first four seater my wife likes enough for us to spec. Hard for some to understand, but the PS is not the anathema to everyone that some hold it to be. But then perhaps I am not a true enthusiast?

Yes but when did you receive your PS allocation offer, when it was announced or more recently?

You can just sit there and drive your old cars, No one really cares what you do, but it’s narrow minded to think it’s better for Ferrari to have its customers going to Rolls/Bentley/Aston etc. and it’s a result of not looking at the big picture. And Ferrari has done one better than all of those with NA V12 in PS, they could have just used 296 drivetrain from the get go as a cash grab. Then I would be whining as well. But who is forced to love a Ferrari V12? What a silly concept.

You may not want to share the Ferrari experience with more than one person at a time, but you should come out of your mental bubble and realize that others want to and will, no matter what you say or think, and it will not take away from the other cars Ferrari were going to make in any case. Not that you’re a buyer for them anyway, right?

If PS replaced the F167 I would be whining too, but it’s an add, at the highest level, and therefore a win for everyone.

I think there is always an element of status building with the orders for many of their cars, but I think this was even more true in the past for the V12 4 seater. I don’t think they could generate the kind of demand they are seeing if it was just people seeking to build status. It may be genuinely surprising- but it appears (at least to me) that there are a lot of people who want one of these.

OTOH, the price is high and, its still a 4 seater and thus, not as overtly sexy, so it will never be a huge volume model.

My drive was an eye opening experience. The only negative in the driving experience- it really does hide the weight so well- you would expect to feel it in handling/ braking- but you really don’t. You do feel it in the fact that you have to really work the engine and it never shocks you with the exponential building of power that it does in the 2 seater V12 models. The FF and Lusso were like this too- though I noticed it more with the PS. The flip side of this is, for sporty driving you will work the engine more, use it more of it more of the time, which is fun.

I think they really nailed it with the Purosangue.

This is genuinely awesome. Roma’s comment was regarding depreciation - i think one has to take into account a good number of PS buyers are buying because they have to (just like FF buyers in 2012) and therefore if you care about depreciation then that needs to be factored into the future secondary market, if you dont care about it then god bless.

I received the offer at the same time as the 296, about 3 weeks ago. Went with the 296 GTB which was accepted by the factory. Now waiting for production ETA.

IMO, if one approaches the PS as any other SUV a lot of the misconceptions would be resolved. It's meant to be used as an SUV like any other. It just so happens to be a Ferrari.

I absolutely would. I wanted a Puro from the first time I heard about it and I was actually frustrated because I didn’t think I’d be able to get one. Once my dealer told me I could get an allocation I jumped on it immediately. The VIP part is just icing on the cake for me.

Well, I approach it as a glorious Ferrari V12 that holds four. Being a tall sedan, FUV, or SUV is of little import to me. ;)
