Automobilia covered both the 612 and Enzo models individually but again nothing even remotely close to a compendium style book.

    Thanks for the review John.

Reminds me of our club magazine Horsepower that covers events and owners, just on a much larger more comprehensive scale.

Great if you've been involved or featured in the book but to an Australian a world way from you guys I think I'll pass.

Is it limited in production numbers?

I chose not to be included in the book.
I don’t know about limited numbers, but the message was they were going to sell out.

    Now some comments...

First of all I have to say that I don't have the "Ferrari Automobili 1947-1953" from the 80s in my collection. Therefore I can't compare them side by side and can't say if there are any new pictures in it. But 3 weeks ago I had a copy of "Ferrari Automobili 1947-1953" in my hands in an old book shop in Amsterdam but I decided against buying it for EUR 350,- because at that moment I was a little bit disappointed about it because of the size and the quality of the pictures (in relation to the asked price). I would have bought it for 30% less.

"Millanta on Ferrari" is different! This is a large book! I didn't expect it to be this size. It is 30cm x 37cm. I'm not sure if I just didn't noticed that before or forgot about it.
And the quality is excellent (typical for Sportfahrer Verlag).

I didn't not read much in it yet but I noticed that the cars are not identified by serial numbers.

Is the book worth the price? I preordered it on the last possible day and because of that had to pay "only" EUR 395,- incl. shipping and had to wait only six weeks. In my opinion that's ok (of course also because I don't have the "old" book). But EUR 100,- more and probably expensive international shipping and customs? I really don't know...

Let's see how fast it sells out...

The original edition came out in 1985. That's only 39 years ago....... Of course, the pic quality was very much different, almost 40 years ago. Times and printing techniques have changed, massively. On top of that the original pix in these books are 75 or more years old.

Not sure if this has been discussed already or not.
A new book from/or about Germany's Loh Collection, I assume about the current special Ferrari exhibition.
204 pages, 600 pix, size 21.5 x 28 cm, Euro € 39.90, Author Jörg Walz. Title (translated) "Ferrari Masterpieces for Track and Road" (or similar).
    ISBN 978-3613-04668-9.

I have just ordered this new book. While it seems to cost Euro € 39.90 for others, here in Switzerland I had to pay Swiss Francs CHF 57.00 which is basically 50% percent more. No, I am not complaining, just telling.

You may just as well cross the border and pick up a copy somewhere in Germany. But then the Swiss customs may catch you (for not declaring), and will put you in jail.

On my first trip to Europe 45 years ago I crossed the frontier without realizing it and didn't stop. My future wife, having been to Europe before, told me what I’d done. I looked in the mirror and there, a few meters back, was the border agent in the middle of the road, clenched fists on hips. I meekly reversed to him. He took one look at my US passport, rolled his eyes, went inside to stamp it and sarcastically, ceremoniously waved me through….

No Swiss person wants to go to Germany. Period.
All Germans come to Switzerland, because here they easily earn 3 to 4 times more as in their completely ruined country. That country is ashambles.
But I rather leave the rest of this discussion to the PR section (or whatever the appropriate area might be).

    Thanks for your review Joe.

I have a standard version on order and after seeing and reading your review the standard limited version is more than enough to spend on this book as opposed to the much more expensive ultra limited editions imho.

My copy also arrived today. In addition, I already had a copy of Ferrari Automobili 1947-1953. Having quickly gone through both, I do recognize a few images from the older book, in addition to a few others from Gioachino Colombo's Le Origini del Mito, published around the same time. That said, these books are definitely not interchangeable in any significant way. The size, scale, and vastly better publication values of Millanta on Ferrari make it a completely different proposition. I was also impressed with Sportfahrer Verlag's packaging. To say that it is very secure is an understatement. I feel completely satisfied with what I have received for the $475 paid (inclusive of what must have been expensive shipping, given the weight of the book) and can not imagine that anyone else would not feel the same way.

Collecting books in 2024 for me is now a case of quality over quantity especially as space becomes more of an issue.

With nearly all of the "classic" Ferrari books filled in my collection it now just comes down to adding new releases to the library.

Ferrari, being the most written about marque, makes it harder to navigate through the trash from the treasure.

So far this year the only two releases for me till June will be the Uovo book by Porter Press and this one one.

Happy to spend a bit more for a quality product who's written contents will stand the test of time instead of the large number of shelf fillers who's topics have been covered many times before and add nothing over existing publications.

Well, I live in Konstanz at Lake Constance and each day, thousands and thousands of Swiss people come shopping, because they love German products. And all of our restaurants are flooded with Swiss people enjoying German food. Of course, they come in German cars (which cars is Switzerland building?) And needless to say, many people living in Switzerland are sending their children to German schools so that they get an open-minded liberal and sound education.

This "completely ruined country" has more world-market leaders and technology leaders than any other country in the world. And most of the fine books which we discuss here are printed with machines of German origin which have a world-wide reputation of excellence.

yes, Germany didn’t do well under the current political situation, the war and pre-covid
but as Sven said, still leading in a lot of things and yes it went down at the moment
but this „kick in the ass“ sounds like it‘s the most worse country in the world…
But i‘m sure there are a lot of swiss people who love and appreciate Germany.
I love Switzerland, because of the watches, cheese and Marcel! :)

    As said, Germany is ashambles.
Today, Tuesday, 16th April 2024, noon Swiss time, 5 mins ago, I received TWO (not 1) packages with the Millanta book. Two separate packages, each one containing 1 (one) Millanta book.
I did not order two, I ordered one, one year ago, and paid for one, one year ago.
And no, I do not want two copies. Fortunately we do have a fireplace.
    Speechless.
    Really an endless chaos.

They just sent you a bonus copy. But I'm sure there's plenty of expatriate Germans living in your neighbourhood, who are happy to collect the extra copy from your doorstep.

    Marcel,
I should not like you to sully your fine Swiss fireplace with this German stowaway.
I will gladly pay the post for you to send me the second copy if this will abate the nuisance and solve your problem.
