This weekend went over to a F430 owner which had convertible issues. First the hood didn't close at all but after manually close the roof and then manually open it it started working again. However one part (the covers next to the roll over protection bar) is not closing... Windows go up automatic and no beeping sound/alarm to be heared. Also display on tach does not show any warnings. Any idea's how the caps close manually? Do the close by spindle of are they pushed upwards (hydrolics)?
To add to @328gts1987 explanation as I went to help the same car: We found out that the hood that covers the roof when open (ima call it a deck lid for now), doesn't open all the way itself so it can open or close its roof, it needs to be held a little further and then it will open and close automatically. However we also found out, that the system doesn't seem to hold its pressure, as when we paused the opening/closing of the roof to check under it, the deck closed on my head, on my own F430 spider i can keep it all paused without it folding closed, no leaks to be found. I'm thinking an internal leak in the pump? and that this leaking inside the pump also is the reason for the deck not fully opening itself as it just give enough pressure in the system? is that possible for these pumps? any one what knows?
Look to be some other issues with that roof. The storage panel lid isn't sitting correctly, and there's a witness mark on the top of the B pillar seal, in fact it appears to have worn through.
agree, however those marks were there from previous owner period. The roof worked fine (having scrapes/damages from before) untill next week when it the issues started not closing the flaps (as pic above). My geus is as Dutch Ferrari, the pump is losing pressure internally (as no leaks are found and fluid-level is not changing) so swap the pump is the way to go, I am thinking. Only problem: where is this pump located and what is the pump exactly?
I agree with mark here. The way the lid is sitting, it appears.The top is not folding correctly. I don't know what the driver side looks like. But by the looks of the passenger side the top is not folding correctly. It could possibly be bunched up which does not allow the lid to sit the way it should. I went through this problem. And Mark shows the problem in his long thread that he has going. Soon as I get out to the car I'll post pics of the the area I'm referring to
It depends on which pump we are talking, ive found multiple pumps, but one is labled as a ECU at the same time (and a whopping price tag of 21K) Image Unavailable, Please Login The one circled in purple im talking about. Parts number # 66376000 but this is labelled as a Electrohydraulic ECU, which i dont think will be the part that gives the issue. The on i think is the issue, is the one circled in red. Which to me seems to be the pump that pushes the roof lid up, so the roof can fold in or out of it. parts #66454200 (LH) & 66454300 (RH #8 on the diagram forgot to circle it)... to me it seems these are the issue, or atleast 1 of them, as the lid needs a very minor push for the roof to operate and move on its own once the lid is moved abit more.
Fyi this is what the top should look like when it's folded down. Sometimes the inner backing of the top will come loose causing that part shown in the pic to not fold correctly. First pic is driver side, second is passenger that was repaired.
