    I'm going to disable the tabs. I don't want to have to "break the tabs" on the faceplate to pull the unit if it ever needs to be removed. I'll probably just add some material somewhere to make it more snug. I'll figure it out when I install mine.

    Super weird design to have covers over the pin slots.... But - what do you expect for $140, I guess! ha!

    I haven't looked at mine enough in detail. Are the pin covers not reusable? I'd figure they'd just have a push in tab or something. Maybe a bit of tape to pull them out?

    If anyone about to make the change wants to do a detailed step but step process of installing it it would be great! I have no idea what connects to what, putting the right cables together etc. Never done it before and if I could avoid a trip to the dealership it would be great.
    I have the Becker unit in mine and the « HIGH POWER HIS WITH SUBWOOFER » option from factory.

    The dealer would probably farm it out to a local audio shop.

    There are tons of videos on how to connect a radio harness to a harness adapter. Do you have a soldering iron?

    Just got it installed. Looks and sounds great. Still buttoning things up from changing belts, so only door speakers for now.

    Can’t figure out how to exit Carplay without disconnecting my phone…admittedly haven’t RTFM.

    You have to choose the Power Acoustik item from the CarPlay menu - that’s how most units I’ve used work

    Installed. I can’t even quantify how much better this is than the Becker unit! I’ll def swap my Becker unit in to sell the car, but WOW - huge improvement.

    I would say that the firmware is a little slow compared to our other CarPlay cars, but incredible value for the money - that’s for sure.

    I’m running aftermarket sub, speakers, and amp, and it sounds great. The EQ is basic, but i don’t really care about getting every bit of SQ I can out of this car - just to have it so useful and functional is fantastic.

    Technically it’s not, but if you want a good installation it is. They’re pretty cheap though. You can get one on amazon along with the harness probably for about $25

    I use these solder sticks. Use a heat gun to heat them up. Simple. Put some heat shrink over them if necessary.

    Great alternative to traditional soldering. Use them on a Jeep regularly goes to hell and back…broken just about everything on it at one point or another, never had a failed electrical connection.

    Maybe an hour, but I took my time with the connection. However, I'm also on radio number 5 so I've had some practice :D

    Took a good 45 minutes taking my time. That was with heat shrinking all the connectors as well. Those solder connectors help speed up the process for sure.

    I just finished installing mine. I am having two issues - 1. On the Bluetooth settings, both Bluetooth phone and music icons are grayed out. 2. I'm getting a constant faint white noice which is very apparent when going from one song to the next. For example, when in CarPlay and using Spotify, there is a white noice in the background while songs are playing. Same thing when using the phone. Anyone having this issue as well?

    my BT and music is greyed out also, but I believe if you have CarPlay enabled it automatically overrides those features. I am not experiencing any additional noise.
