Hammered at $247,500. A lofty result...no doubt driven in part by four serious bidders in the room. Or is this the new normal? How expensive is this at the end of the day, really, for an example that appears to be "gas n go" ready?

Yeah, that was strong result. That's all it takes, a few bidders who really want the car. Clearly the manual Maranello train continues to gain speed.

Seems well sorted, other than the somewhat aged tires. Make sure that all the keys, FOBs and code cards for the immobilizer and radio are included. I didn't see pix of those. If you like the colors, it seems like a good one to go after.

Do you plan to inspect it in person? Also, don't forget to commission a PPI!

3pedalstable sold it previously on BaT - the BaT deal fell through, but he ended up selling it to a client of his who purchases many cars from him- Apparently a very wealthy person who keeps all of us cars in perfect shape. He said the car was perfect when he sold it. (Not sure about the fobs and code cards). I recently bought a car from him and based on my interaction with him if he says it’s a perfect car (or was back then) I’d believe it. Super straight up guy. Very transparent. Knows his cars
Absolutely stunning car. The black quilted parcel shelf with red stitching is really nice…

We will see this one again! It will always have some lingering question marks that follow it though...

The seller really should have put some effort sprucing it up. 324k as is seemed like a price the seller should have been more than happy with.

People were so hung up on maintenance and leather shrinkage, it never even got to the point to know if the shock or steering ecus were upgraded.

Yup. Typical. There is no rhyme or reason for how some of these auctions turn out on BaT.

This 575 wasn't all that bad, IMO. Yes, way overdue for a belt service and some of the usual cosmetic issues you see on these cars. The auction presentation could have been better, but it met BaT's min standards or they wouldn't have let it go live. There have been plenty of other Maranellos, both 550s and 575s, in similar condition/mileage range, also with deferred maintenance needs, also that haven't been driven in ages, also on consignment, that have done well. Lot of variables at play...different day, different bidders, different market (perhaps).

At some point, a very nice 550 is the better choice for a similar Maranello experience. This money is approaching SuperAmerica or Barchetta territory...

And I completely agree that the critical questions often are not asked. Even our participating F-Chat crew forgets to ask sometimes.

I think at this point it’s simply the rarity driving the 575 factory manuals. It’s mainly collectors who will be interested and let’s face it, we know most collectors rarely drive their cars. So I think we will continue to see a fickle and outwardly inexplicable market there.

I can go buy an 575M F1 this afternoon, literally within walking distance from my house for $100k.

Is a shifter worth a quarter million dollar premium OVER THAT to anybody but an investor?

    No.

It was only worth $25k to me, haha!

If you intend to drive and perhaps maintain some measure of extra $$, OEM conversion is the only way to go. If you want to look at your car and eventually contribute to your retirement (depending on market like anything, of course), knock yourself out. I prefer to keep the delta in a high interest account…but I’m nowhere near as wealthy as people appear to be on BAT.

There are few examples of perfectly inelastic goods or products. This is not one.
