Is the red key fob able to lock/unlock a car? I've got a red key fob here. I replaced the battery, but I don't know whether it works. Is there a way to test it to confirm it matches the car? Thanks in advance :)

Walk up to her, press the button on the fob and see what happens. If working, you should hear a click as she unlocks and two beeps from the alarm siren telling you she is unlocked and the immobilizer is disarmed.

Do you have your Alarm PIN in the document pouch?

I’ve walked up to the car, pressed the red key fob and nothing happens. No noises, no door lock clicks or light flashes. As I’ve long suspected, either the code was changed or an incorrect red key fob was provided.

    Thank you for your help.

If you just acquired the car, it may be that the red fob hasn’t been used in a long time or maybe ever. The fob system has a rolling code like a garage door opener and can get out of sync. So you might try repeatedly pressing the button until it syncs. If after maybe 75 presses it still doesn’t respond, it may be that the seller just provided a random red fob from an internet sale and it doesn’t match the car.

Give Mark a call at ferrarifobs.com. If you have your Alarm PIN, he can tell you whether your red fob matches or not. If you do not have your PIN, he can pull it from the Alarm ECU/Immobilizer and set you up with a full set of fobs. He can also provide F430 style key and fob combinations to eliminate the separate key and fob set-up.

For me, he provided a set of fobs with lithium watch batteries instead of the alkalines. 5 years between battery changes.

I've tried that too, no go.

Oh well, time to spend some coins on pulling the code from the alarm ECU/immobilizer.

    Thanks again.

if you're not the original owner the red fob may not be your car's original fob....something to think about.
