Aesthetic details (from prior ownership): sticky button service never completed, a few minor blemishes, scratch on right front headlamp cover (non-leaking), minor curb rash on all four rims (don't ask me, no idea!), wind deflectors behind rolls bars plastic cracking, two seams coming loose on top (recent estimate: $200).

That's going to set you back $1000. There's no fixing those wind stops. They can only be replaced with OEM as there are no aftermarket units worth their weight in human waste.

Top problems are never simple to fix either. Since you're asking $30k over top dollar, I suggest making the car absolutely perfect and trying again.

 

An ask is just an ask. Nothing more, nothing less!

Well that car did have some needs...

But...

Boy... You wanna talk rare... 05 360 spider... Very rare I think it was 20 made or so... The. Stick? My goodness... Obviously it's a fraction of those. I'm sure someone has the real number but if it was more than 7 cars I'd be shocked.

 

So....you buy it on BAT for 155 and you want to try and flip it to the Ferrari guys for a 30 grand profit like the people on FChat aren't watching BAT and aren't going to call you out on it???

That's not really relevant.It's what the car is worth to a potential buyer. Perhaps he bought a $185000 car for a $155000, and wants to make some money. I don't believe that's the case in this instance, but I've purchased things that I believed I could resell for-profit. It's called commerce and and it's the foundation of the free enterprise system.

I think that Car Dad's comment is that a newbie with 26 posts comes to a Ferrari Website and expects there to be people here who have not done their research.

 

@CarDad, Thanks for your post. It's interesting how much you know about me and my grand scheme to pull something over on the Ferrari community here.

 

I'm curious about the logic in your pricing. You purchased a car at the absolute top of the market, then sat on it for a few months and are trying to sell it $30k over what was an exorbitant price to begin with.

So what's the story? Why is your car worth so much more than any other 360? Maybe if you can explain it, someone will pay that. Do try.

If I had a dollar for every Ferrari for sale at a price that people said was too high and then sold anyway, I’d finally be able to buy myself an 812. Low mileage manuals don’t grow on trees. I’ve sold many cars for more than I paid. Who cares? If it doesn’t sell OP will lower the price eventually.

 

I agree with what everyone is saying, but I think the point was made pretty clearly. Most, if not all, of us here on FChat are on BAT all the time. If there was a buyer here for this car at the sale price at the time, why would you pay $30k more? But I agree, the seller is entitled to ask whatever he likes. The market will ultimately dictate what the appropriate number should be.

Asking another 30k on top of an already high print <3 months lather AND listing a number of issues that haven't been rectified is just plain asinine.

Free markets gonna free market, but a brand new user who hasn't actually put any work into the car coming in and asking a premium is just acidulous.

 

Looks like someone has picked up all their marbles and gone elsewhere.

 

Hey, maybe he took it out for a spirited ride and came to his senses that it is in fact an amazing car? Seemed like a genuine dude giving Ferrari a shot vs a flip to me anyway.

 

Genuine guy trying to get out of an impulsive purchase whole? Probably. BUT it's not reasonable to try to pass off the LA county sales tax (10.25%) and CA registration he paid on top off an already high print for a car that needed work. Not to mention the fact the he copied the lowest possible quality pics from the auction and didn't even take one of his own. There's few more grand in the ask that I'm not sure where he would've spent it but that's besides the point. Not once was he transparent that he was just trying to get out whole or that he would consider offers. I bet very few would've criticized the ad if he had written another sentence or two.

 

32k miles is not why that car didn't meet reserve. It's unfortunate but there are a lot of would-be-great 360 examples that just haven't been cared for.

Pains me.

 

Agreed, the asking price is insane. I was more thinking being genuine about wanting to like the car. No way he's getting out whole on this buy.
