    Hi,
I would like to remove one of the central console switch to fit a custom one for my lift system.

I first planed to remove the active suspension switch (I never use it) but now I'm thinking about removing the door lock switch instead as I can do the same thing by pushing down the door knob.
Anything wrong (mechanically) by forcing down regulary this knob to lock the doors instead of using the switch?
It seems OK to me but I prefer to ask here where people more qualified could see something I missed.

    Thank you

Interesting question. I imagine it would be the same as turning the key on the lock. Normally, the electric actuator assists the locking mechanism, even when using the key. When you backdrive the doorlock actuator by mechanically moving the lock mechanism with the key, the actuator's internal microswitch senses that you want to lock the door and the system actuates the doorlock actuators electrically, to assist the locking. I assume a single door knob will lock both doors (?).

Yes, pushing the driver knob down will act the same as pushing the central locking switch.

You could try using a dual pole switch to lock/unlock instead of 2 separate switches. I always thought that was kind of a dumb setup, so would be an improvement over stock (imo) and give you a free switch for the suspension lift.

I agree, Pete. Your car's sister has a momentary switch in the outboard position for a reproduction 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner horn (the quick-release steering wheel does not allow for a functional horn button) and an ON-OFF fog light switch (operating them independently of the light switch on the stalk) in the inboard position replacing those two locking switches.

The central locking system was removed in 1995 when the car was converted to a Challenge car. On the track, doors must remain unlocked and windows open for safety reasons.

Actually that was my first idea :)
I opened a thread a while ago here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148951621/ but with all the ECU it doesn't seem possible as it was in previous cars.
That's why I'm looking for another solution.

The locking switch is not really usefull if you can achieve the same result by pushing down the knob. I just want to be sure I won't damage anything by repeatly activate it this way...
