The livery change could also be due to the signing of a new sponsor Hewlett Packard which also would require blue hence the livery change? The deal looks to bring the Scuderia $90 to $100 million per year......like Oracle with RedBull.
I don’t like that they signed him however they’re going to sell so much over priced clothes that it will make them billions.
no money can ever pay the stain on Ferraris reputation for having him....or my emotional distress....
I would be surprised if the livery is fully Blue on Blue and White and inspired by the 1960s NART, but John Elkann is really an American and seems to like to interfere in things he shouldn't, so its very possible.
WTF! I’m starting to think the powers in charge are just ****ing with us at this point by making every bad decision possible. It’s embarrassing.
“The Ferrari-NART connection became widely recognized in 1964 when John Surtees and Lorenzo Bandini's official Formula 1 cars departed from the iconic red livery, adopting the American blue and white colours and were entered into the final two World Championship races by NART. This move came as a result of Enzo Ferrari's protest against the Federation's refusal to classify the 250 LM as a Gran Turismo vehicle, leading to his return of the Manufacturer's license. Consequently, Bandini and Surtees concluded the Championship season racing for NART, with Surtees remarkably clinching the World Title in a non-red Ferrari!” (https://roarington.com/media-house/stories/north-american-racing-team-the-famous-nart)
It is fantastic history above and a good education for the 'purists' here to understand Elkann's decision honors 1 Enzo made. All the faux crap rage can stop.
The change will be made to honour Ferrari’s historical place in the US motorsport environment, marking the manufacturer’s 70th anniversary in the American marketplace. In 1964, this breakthrough was marked with a special US white and blue livery, which featured in the final two races of that season. The cars ran in the North American Racing Team colours as part of a protest, by order of Enzo Ferrari. The former colour, Azzurro La Plata, is a light shade of blue and is the national racing colour of Argentina. It is also a similar shade to that worn by two-time champion Alberto Ascari, with the Italian often wearing a jersey in the colour as well as a matching helmet. Further Ferrari connections to this colour comes through the racing overalls of the 1960s, with the likes of John Surtees and Chris Amon racing in blue, as did Niki Lauda in his maiden season with the team. Azzurro Dino is a darker shade, which was worn last in 1974, most recently by Clay Regazzoni before the iconic red colouring became the norm for race suits. All this livery stuff and helmet stuff is just pure crap...a waste of money and it does nothing to improve the racing. F1 keeps getting worse and worse, with every passing day. I'm going to miss Miami and Vegas this year just because I can.
This is Azzurro Dino today (incidentally on my favourite F12 TDF...such a fantastic spec! Saw it's twin in barcelona years ago) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrari is reportedly set to announce a new title sponsorship deal with US technology giant Hewlett-Packard for the 2025 Formula 1 season. According to Sport Business, the Scuderia’s commercial and technical agreement with HP will deliver a significant windfall to the Italian outfit, making it one of the most lucrative deals in F1 history.
Agree I like it too. Its great that history is celebrated in this way. Who knows where Ferrari would be today were it not for the USA market....
Correct. An important market is recogized. Not certain why some dont find that valid. Its normal F1 business and history. Good for Ferrari.
Would Ferrari exist today without Luigi Chinetti and the US market? Quite possibly not. If Ferrari goes with the blue and white livery it needs to include a tribute to NART.
It may be apocryphal but it’s been said that Chinetti offered to give Phil Hill a blue and white 156 for the 1961 U.S.G.P. so that Hill could race in his home country as World Champion. Ferrari had refused to send the scuderia to the U.S. supposedly as a sign of mourning and respect for von Trips, but many suspect that was bull ****. The title was wrapped up so he saw no benefit in spending the money to come here. I happen to subscribe to that interpretation. Sadly Hill was denied the opportunity of a lifetime. (I think someone else, perhaps Cooper, offered him a ride, but the Drake nixed that, as well as Chinetti’s offer). It was a typical mean spirited move on Ferrari’s part and was a marketing blunder as well. There were thousands of disappointed fans at Watkins Glen and tv viewers….including this one. The race was being covered live by one of the networks. After weeks of anticipation I couldn’t believe what I wasn’t seeing on tv.
