    $50,000 is a pretty good result for that car. The Sawzall sunroof probably held it back….

    A 2976 Euro model just popped up in Houston, TX for $79,500. Looks to be in good shape, some decent documentation, and a lot of good photos that most dealers wouldn't even know to shoot. Looks like there may be some potential rust issues under the red paint (painted in 1985).

    I got that email yesterday. That might be a good one if structurally sound…depending on *how* federalized it actually is…the less the better, but I see the side markers were done.

    Interestingly, those side markers are better than the ones Ferrari put on US models! Would still be nice to see them removed.

    Search of the SN and it has been on this thread before in 2015 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/144047198/ Looks like someone put in the money and love since then.

    It carries a lot of the same visual cues as GT4 #1. Very interesting interior - the blue piping and only blue headrests in the rear. Blue trunk cloth but not the factory black blue weave stuff. I love the vent holes above the rear window in the body - they've been discussed on here before but I think it was mostly an early car / euro thing. Interesting it carries a Ferrari nose badge for a '75 Italian market car - yes I know about the bulletin - its just, again that was mostly for US in 75 and everything changed in 76 - looks like the car has been in state side since the early 80's. 208 bored out to 308 with P6 cams! 34 DCNF's - I am curious as to how this baby runs and sounds. Headwork and direct fire ignition.

    Its beautiful. It's not a concourse car but I bet it is a beautiful driver and show piece, none the less.

    Yeah, I commented on the badges without getting into the U.S. vs. R.O.W. and dealer bulletin weeds. Too much for the typical BAT peanut gallery to deal with.;) It is a nice car and one I’d be proud to own. I hope it goes big!

    Do you (or anyone else here) know the BAT commenter who says he did the work on the car?

    Does anyone have some reference to the P6 cams on this motor build? When I look up "Ferrari P6" it pulls out a cool looking prototype, and I doubt thats the origin of the cams.

    enter your search term, scroll down to "search forums" and click 308/328 and you will only get info related to our cars.

    P6 cams were factory race cams, well discussed on here. much larger lift and longer duration profiles. many have said they are hard to tune on road cars because they are made for running more at the top end and wide open. Other more aggressive profiles can be had by cat cams and webcams good for all around street use.

    Spencer, Thank you so much for the quick and concise info!! I sometimes wonder about my car, it seems to have pretty aggressive cams in it (or possibly its just the nature of the beast) it really takes off after 4500 RPM and I've had a peach of a time getting it to idle and run at low RPM.

    When you brought the car to Paonia, did you make sure it's jetted for 5,000 feet? my GT4 ran very differently (much better!) once i got ride of the sea level jetting when I brought it to Denver.

    Oh my,, jetting PTSD, yes I've got a substantial cache of jets (x8) here and finally 5 years in to ownership I've finally got it dialed in! The carbs were always really rough at the crossover point and idled rich as ****; then things would smooth out. In the end the Idle jet are 55's the rest are pretty to close to stock, I finally found a cantankerous ol' mechanic that really knew his stuff with DCNF and he helped get it smoothed out. Really running well now, no stumble at crossover and easy starting! The car is a riot in Las Vegas and completely at home in LA!

    I have a question.

    I see cars like this one https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1982-ferrari-308-gtsi-9/

    And it shows 51k miles but there are things in the pictures that, to me, make it look like it has a lot more thank 51k miles.

    Is this just because of the age of the car? I have a Shelby with over 50k miles and it looks practically brand new inside and underneath. Granted it's a 2007 not a 1982 but I'm just wondering where the disconnect comes in?

    Unless mileage is incredibly well documented DO NOT believe the odometer. That said too many people put too much importance on mileage. Judge a car by its condition TODAY and then buy from there.

    I agree with that 100 percent. I don't really care about the mileage as much on any car as long as it's looked after.

    So I'm guessing the above example was probably 151k at least.

    How very true! Ours only had 20k on the odometer... and 200K more on the carfax history! o_O Only trust official records if at all

    I have looked at a ton of 308s and that one looks about right for an unrestored car. Its 42 years old after all and probably had many owners with various levels of upkeep by each. I typically see a car with few owners history, have slightly better care, both mechanically and cosmetically, but there are always outliers.

    As was said previously, take the mileage as a rough idea and always get the car inspected...never trust the odometer.

    Honestly, I've seen much more modern cars with a third of that mileage in far worse shape. It really just depends on how the previous owner(s) took care of the car (or not).

    IMO, any auction car, particularly internet auction cars, must be taken with great caution. If you can't personally inspect or hire an expert to inspect the car you are playing with fire. There are exceptions such as a car from a renowned collection but those are rarely found on BAT.

    A case in point, I am just finishing up a Jensen Healey for a friend who bought it sight unseen from an internet ad. The photos looked great, shiny paint, "new" interior and a long list of performance upgrades using high quality Jensen specialist parts. My friend is not a hands on car guy, he just wanted a "dependable" British sports car to drive on sunny days. His naive interpretation of the ad was that he was getting a car in almost like new condition (odo reads 34K miles). The car had sold on BAT 3 years ago for $15k (very good money for a JH), it had gone through 2 more owners since then and he paid half what it went for on BAT, facts that would have thrown up multiple red flags for a knowledgeable buyer. After trailering it home he took it out for his first drive which ended abruptly 3 miles later when it totally died.

    I spent 3 months going through the car, admittedly at a casual pace, fixing hack work in every system. The biggest problem was the electrical system, rats nests of wires original and new, wires leading to nowhere, cut wires, corroded connections, missing wires and wires connected to the wrong places. These things you don't see in the glossy photos. The engine had the carbs way out of tune, fuel PSI 4 times what the carbs require, cam timing belt off by multiple teeth, band-aid hacks just to get it running etc, again things that you most likely will not pick up on without a physical inspection.

    Here is the reason that the carbs wouldn't achieve a balanced airflow, yeah, your not suppose to see daylight through the throttle plate.
