I’m going to be exploring gloss black peelable paint for the black plastic bits. If a replacement glass black option (non carbon) was available I’d be all over it.

You can get a gloss black finish , BUT, you have to spec carbon then the factory will do the gloss black .

the standard pieces are textured specifically to ensure that you cannot just paint it .

    I ended up speccing carbon

I know. That's why I'm saying an aftermarket company should be offering paintable ones.

Just take an oem set off to do a mold and you're printing money.

And from a buyer's point of you they'll be dirt cheap compared to painted carbon.

Unfortunately most after market providers , TAG Novitec etc , offer many after market bits at similar prices to the original , TAG wheels are a case in point.

then you have the whole warranty issue. It is just too hard for many owners unless they are the 2nd or 3rd owner

Plastic trim pieces have zero warranty implications as long as they have the identical shape and mounting points as the oem pieces. It’s not a mechanical part, it’s not a moving part, it doesn’t change the aerodynamics, and they will weigh the same as the oem unpainted ones. That’s a complete non issue.

As far as pricing it doesn’t have to be one of the brands you mentioned. An enterprising vendor can undercut them all. Novitec sells their spacers for insulting sums, you can get equal quality ones for a fraction of the price from other vendors.

Btw, any good body shop can actually sand the oem pieces and paint them gloss black. It just would be preferable to have replacement ones that way one can save the oem ones if the next owner wants them back on at resale.

The market is too small for an enterprising vendor , lets face it the entire run of 296 will be 6000 or less, hardly a big market when you consider the amount of owners would want those parts

    That's a different conversation ...

Meh, there are plenty of aftermarket companies that make it worth their while to make replacement interior/exterior trim pieces for cars like the 458, 488, 812, etc.

It makes no difference to me btw, I just made a passing suggestion to a vendor ... but I am guessing a bunch of owners would be interested, especially the ones who are made to pay ridiculous amount of $ to paint over exposed carbon fibre. I'm actually surprised there isn't a vendor that specializes in gloss black replacement trim across all models. I know I would have bought a set day one for my 812 GTS.

They are only made on demand. Therefore I don‘t know what they will charge for US deliveries. The price in Euro is approx. 7.500 Euro for the set, just the rims.

Looks good, do you have a direct contact to them ? Was it possible to keep your "old" tires ?

Congrats! Still no word on mine. Maybe they were on the same ship?
Did it just arrive? Still customs to deal with.

Yes I keep the factory rims for winter and put the Michelin on the new rims. As I said, standard size, rims and tires.

I have learnt that the whole picture thread is somewhat ‘flexible’ , to the extent that your car may well be on a ship by the time you get the pic.

By the time that pic is taken the car is finished yet it still has to go to finishing. You may notice varying vehicles with tape and markings on various places . this is generally marking spots that been picked up by initial QA as having an issue . That is why there have even been some cars at this stage without bumpers etc. The thing is to keep the pics and ensure that you closely look at any area of tape or other markings .

Seven weeks. I got the last photo uploaded about one day before shipping. But basically no status change from before Christmas to that first week of March.
