So my new-to-me 2018 488 GTB was delivered to me today and I'm just figuring out the basics. I understand it has an anti-creep function so it doesn't move forward when you are sitting in traffic I find it very annoying and when I come up my driveway slowly I smell burning clutch. When getting rolling from a stop it seems like it takes too much throttle application and the car is not allowed to roll freely at first.

    Can this be defeated?

Interesting, I've never heard of this before.... I always just assumed that it didn't 'creep' because it's not an automatic transmission so it's just simply not engaged until you press the pedal. Never thought a thing about it and certainly not annoying; I think it's great. But if you're smelling clutch then something or something you're doing is wrong for sure. I was always told, even way back with F430's, that you should be either be on the gas pedal or the brake pedal, never coast, never just leave your foot off of both as that is equivalent to riding a clutch....

I put 9300 miles on a 488 and never had this so called issue. Never ever smelled burning clutch!!!

The transmission acts like a manual with an electric clutch. It’s not supposed to move when you are sitting still. Give it slight throttle engage the clutch and drive it up your driveway. Don’t feather the throttle making the clutch slightly engage and off and no throttle up a hill. Odd way to drive if I’m understanding this so called issue.

So you're saying when your foot is not on the gas the clutch is fully disengaged? If that is the case if you're on a hill and you take your foot off the brake the car will roll down the hill. Or does the car automatically apply the brakes so the car won't move?

I have a steep driveway and the 488 will definitely roll backwards in 1st gear with your foot off the gas. I do it all the time when repositioning the car for a straighter shot into the garage without having to put the car in reverse.

Going from the Roma to the F8, I needed to get used to this too. It is harder to pull into the garage and parking spots because you have to be on the throttle to move.

Sitting at the lights. Firstly you need to have your foot on the brake. If not the car safe gaurds the gearbox and puts it in neutral with an audible alarm going off.

Anti-creep ??? Have no idea what that is.

In gear and on a hill the car will hold, might be a slight roll back but nothing to worry about.

Ah Throttle application , you do realise it is a Turbo ? The accelerator needs more push than a N/A.

I'm glad someone feels what I'm feeling. It should take only a whisper of throttle to make the car move with an engine this powerful, and it takes more than that. Anyway, the lesson is if your are going uphill to move some, stop, then move again in another distinct motion rather than slowly creep along. Just as you would in a manual clutch car- just takes some getting used to for a first timer.
