That will be a no then

The Team announces that Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey will leave the Red Bull Technology Group in the first quarter of 2025. The engineering supremo will step back from Formula 1 design duties to focus on final development and delivery of Red Bull’s first hypercar, the hugely anticipated RB17. He will remain involved in and committed to this exciting project until its completion. We’d like to thank Adrian for our achievements in the time that we have worked together so far. He has been instrumental for us in achieving a remarkable seven Formula One Drivers’ and six Constructors’ Championship titles - totalling 118 victories and 101 poles including the STR 2007 pole and victory. I didn’t read it this way.
RB 17 project until first quarter 2025.
Already planned schedule if I remember correctly.
Then at the end of first 2025 quarter, free to leave where he wants.

Horner dismantiling the team as Jos predicted. He is out of F1 RedBull. Hypercar sideshow. He is free of the team for all intents and purposes. Fun begins now.

Sources close to the situation have told BBC Sport there will be time for Newey to have a major impact on the gestation of a 2026 car design for whichever team he decides to join.

Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Wednesday that Newey had met Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur in London to discuss a potential deal.

He also revealed his departure had been handled by former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan, who Newey described as his “close friend and manager”.

Jordan and Newey have succeeded in pulling off a major coup in extricating the designer from a contract that ran to the end of 2025 and included a 12-month “non-compete” clause that should have meant he was not available to any other team until 2027 at the earliest.

I think the Horner stuff may be a smokescreen. The reason Newey and Max are both looking at their options is that they have seen the 2026 Ford Power Unit and they are not impressed with it.

Red Bull Powertrains became Chritian Horner's pet project after he scuttled the Porsche option.
It appears to be the origin of the internal conflict inside the Red Bull organisation.
Horner seems to have gambled his future on it against the opinions of many.

Newey and his personal differences are much older than the Ford useless pairing with RedBull of late. Its internal politics not a PU driven issue. In case you havent seen what Jos has been up to the last few months its not PU centric at all. Maybe its an issue potentially over 2 years away.

According to Bild it is official, Newey is leaving at the beginning of next year. Yeah!

    I'm repeating my post:

*IF* Ferrari gets Newey, we will be celebrating 5 more WDCs.

PS: The other question is of course what will Max do now? If he is smart, he follows Newey. All the more reason for Ferrari to get Newey.

As the manager he is not about to enlighten the world on the new plans Newey has. Zero rush. He will talk after Newey decides/signs new deal etc. Utterly controlled all this. We also have zero insight into the departure agreement for Newey as well.

in a lot of ways, I blame Honda for all of this. The can never seem to commit and make up their mind. They're in... no they're out... oh wait ... in again. I don't think RB had much of a choice at the time to go their own way with their own PU and partner with someone else given Honda's inability to commit to F1. I think that started the uncertainty and where there's uncertainty, there's chaos. You have characters like Jos who nothing but meddlesome individuals who bring no value but have influence.

I'm tired of hearing all the "experts" pontificating on the future. They know nothing. I'm hoping this all settles soon so we can just talk about racing again. I'm sick of Jos, I'm sick Ralf, i'm sick of all of them and just want to see great racing.
