Another one that didn't sell at that number... It just 'changed hands' at a number to be for sale again soon.... lol @ BAT's continued fake news.

 

Wow. Now it’s time to hear the following justifications: too high if a spec, too low of a spec, too many miles, too low if miles, bad color, etc.

 

Todd, not sure what you mean? It actually sold for that number. That is what the market (or value of this car) is. Any individual could have bid on it and bought it. Just so happens the high bidder is a dealer that will try and flip it for more money to someone who didn’t see the auction. BAT is not Mannheim. Any individual can sign up for free and bid and buy cars.

If someone thought the car was worth more they could have bid more and bought it. Now the dealer who flips it can reach a much different audience than BAT but that is the value of the car.

 

Btw, that proves that the market is still strong. Another way to look at it is a 2.5 year old car only lost 11k or 3%. Amazing that they are still holding up strong.

You missed the point bud…. Yes, it was a dealer. No, because this car sold to a dealer (which was already planned ahead of time), this does NOT mean it’s the ‘market’— it was (as many BAT sales are) a planned sell to a dealer who will THEN sell it for truer market value.

VERY few… and I mean a minuscule amount of actual real, individual, private buyers are deciding/choosing to buy their toy/fun car, priced over 100k from BAT and any other type of online service…. Yes, you’re right, ‘anyone with more than 392 or whatever COULD have bid and won, but guess what? There aren’t any - ok fine, there are a TINY amount of these people in existence… the other 98% of real, private buyers buy it directly from the owner or they buy at a dealer. Ever ask yourself why Mr Joe Blow decides to sell his personal car and then says, ok, lemme do it on BAT or the like? They don’t (very often), they do it with an end game in mind and this includes a dealer or a person who is a dealer principal or GM or even just a sales manager or general sales manager and then it eventually goes to a true buyer for personal joy. There’s a lot of ‘math’ involved and the reason for BAT is not so me and you can buy and sell cars in auction format. Yes it happens as that’s the illusion but it’s not what’s happening with this car or with 90+% of exotics you ever see ‘sold’

Oh, and lastly, you say ‘it is the value of the car’ … yes, it’s the wholesale value— about the same exact number as you’d get as an ACV when you try to sell to a dealer or trade it…. BIG difference from wholesale value to retail value

It’s an auction. There is no planning on BAT. Anyone can bid and win. It’s just like eBay. If you wanted the car you could have bid more than the highest bidder and you could have bought it. What that number was is unknown as who knows what the winner was willing to go up to.

 

Todd, it is an open market. That is retail NOT wholesale. You don’t have to be a dealer to buy on BAT. Any person can bid.. My neighbor buys cars off BAT every month or so. He drives them, gets bored and sells them.

 

Not true at all. I know a lot of people that are buying their cars on BAT. They don’t want to play games with dealers, don’t want to pay a “ dealer fee” and would rather buy direct from a seller. They are buying Porsche, Ferrari, Aston, etc. it is a huge market.

Mr Kraft decides to sell his car. He come to Todd’s dealership and asks for an appraisal, buy figure, ACV. I give it to you. You don’t love it. I give you a different plan —— and I end up with the car anyway at a ‘cost’ I like and you get an amount that makes you a bit happier than the number I gave you at my store. Fill in the rest

And THIS is how and why 90% of BAT exotic sales happen. So it does not determine market value or retail value — the average of all the numbers of whichever car is more accurately, the wholesale or trade in value.

oh, and lol @ not wanting to pay a 7-1200 dealer fee but being ok with a 5k BAT fee.

Agreed. Strong market for something that’s 2.5 years old. Not many brands/models can say that.

 

A lot of the sellers on BAT have gotten a price for trade from a dealer and don’t like the number as it’s a wholesale number (that’s what dealers pay on trade). They then sell on BAT and get a lot more than wholesale value and they get close to or actual retail. At the same time, some auctions have bad timing and don’t get a lot of action. A dealer can “steal” a car and get a great deal and turn around and flip it for a small profit. That happens a lot. Probably happened on this car. Dealer will probably sell it for 410-420 and make a quick profit. Alternatively a lot of dealer have bought cars on BAT just like that and get stuck with them. You see them pop up for sale multiple times and you see them sitting on their website for 6 months. So in reality they overpaid thinking they could flip it and it ends up they ended up paying the retail value of the car.

 

Btw, anyone is the car business will do whatever they can to bash BAT as it directly affects their business. Can’t tell you how many buddies I have that are GM or sales people and say the same thing Todd is saying. It’s has definitely had a big affect on the industry and there is a reason BAT is thriving.

** I should qualify this that I have never bought anything from BAT and don’t think I ever would. I much prefer the relationship with a dealer and dealing with them vs. a stranger **

899 miles and only 1 owner. It appears that it went in for both yearly service/maintenance and not much else.

 

Oh no bud, it's the opposite-- BAT helps dealers A LOT-- high end dealers mostly... as they do what I explained above. I think it's great and actually has zero affect on my current dealership (for me) but another great little 'trick' when taking in a car at a nice low number is to show them the "perceived' retail of similar cars on BAT and can very confidently offer them lower... why? BECAUSE THE PUBLIC THINKS THESE SALES ON BAT ARE RETAIL NUMBERS!! So, wow, how nice it is to take an exotic in BELOW wholesale because of wonderful sites like BAT.. easiest justification EVER. even the dumbest person understands their car MUST be worth less than retail to a dealer.... but if 'retail' is fake (by doing what I explained to you above,,,, thousands of times), then deters are actually getting these cars off the streets for less than wholesale..... weeeeeeeeeeee ahem, it doesn't affect me at all; just shedding some light on what's real and what's perceived.
