Looks terrible body colour. No imagination. It might mean that this is not the greatest design if a few black pieces are used to give it so much of its identity but it loses everything without them.
I like it better with the black “visor.” Wish it wrapped from end to end on the front fascia. Making the two rear active spoilers body color would have also been a plus. looking to other modern Ferrari models (SF90xx/roma), their active spoilers are also black. Maybe they stuck with this for cohesive design throughout all models.
Quite generic design and certainly not worthy to succeed LaFerrari; not radical enough. Reminiscent of the McLaren P1 too. Well that's a matter of opinion, but Ferrari has always been a forward looking company. Leave the past in the past.
I disagree. In terms of design F40 , 308 and Dino have nothing in common. Also don't confuse design evolution with history design implementation.
Much better, but the roof an the rest of the rear except the window itself has to be painted in body color, too. It’s a shame that a lot of enthusiasts try to solve the biggest mistakes of the design team one day after the new car came out.
The black spoiler on the Roma Spider is complete nonsense designwise - other than the Coupé, where the spoiler prolongs the rear window.
While we're at it we should find Gino too. I suspect he has a few quality words to say about this car, feels weird not having him participate in a thread as controversial as this one
I really, really, really have reverence for the V12 pedigree. After seeing this launch, at this point I feel like my respect for the lineage is greater than the respect the people at Ferrari have; I bet many enthusiasts agree. Nothing about the car says "I want to grow old with this in the garage" to me. The V12s used to be flagship, aspirational, and timeless. I feel nothing when I look at this car. My sense is that Ferrari is trying to ride the brand and V12 halos with a faux-Daytona-homage in a cheap attempt to give the car the credibility and a sense of triumph. It strikes me as another exercise to attract the fashionistas who will compete for the highest MSRP, a new light to attract the moths. Such is life in the post-IPO race. But I would be weary as these buyers are hot money and will come and go depending on where the brighter lights shine, and Ferrari's light will not shine forever if they continue to dilute the greatness. The Emperor's New Clothes. I can only imagine these mini Emperors in their gauche 12Cilindri pulling up to a 275 GTB at a stoplight. The vintage owners are legitimately driving the finest suits of all time, but care far more about the deals they are making in those suits. In contrast, the modern guys will be thinking that their suits make them dealmakers. Thank you, Ferrari, for making tremendous cars in the past that we can enjoy for a long, long time while these new models come and go.
100%. My exact thinking on the pista and f8 and the 812 c/a + the name. It has taking me some time but I am stating to really like it. I hated the f12 until I saw it in the flesh and then loved it and bought one. I think this is the last of the breed. My plan is to get the coupe and keep my GTS.
One can only wonder what the Ferrari design team threw away when they were told to redo their earlier F167 design efforts some time ago... And not for the first time either when the Purosangue was also rejected and 'redone' to.
The amount of people convincing themselves that everyone must hate this design and trying to hunt down @day355 is hilarious. I'd have said the exact same as him. It's a very striking car and I really enjoy the design. Good art is polarising - if you don't like it, that's OK - but there's no need to "get real" and convince yourselves the entire universe is on your side when it comes to the car looking bad. It doesn't imo - I prefer this car to the F12 and the 812. It's a fabulous modern Ferrari.... Because we're in the modern era. I'd reckon some of you lot are probably better served by the back-catalogue and that's OK too
You‘re right in some way. But the retro front of the original Daytona is too much in comparison to the modern era rest of the car. Absolute retro or modern era, but not both in one car. And, to say it as an owner, the front end is not the best part of the original Daytona. The rear end is much nicer.
Another way to look at it is that the Daytona headlight feature was ahead of its time and has now become a modern design trend. I mean, you see it used on Lucids and other EVs. Was the Daytona too modern or is the Cilindri too retro?
Good art CAN be polarizing, but it is not requisite. A 1" dot on a 1000" canvas is polarizing as a piece of art, but it ain't worth $10M. And if somebody is dumb enough to pay for it, they aren't an art connoisseur.
Someone posted these in another thread. Painting the black bits is a vast improvement to my eyes. I know others will disagree, and that's cool. But they're clearly polarizing (see poll). I hope Ferrari will give buyers the option to paint them. It sounds like they won't. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I may be a sucker , but I’m all in . As with most recent Ferraris , I’ve got Rosso tinted glasses -Ferrari , spider , V12, NA, yes pleeeeeez. Resistance is futile for me as I really like the front and back!!! Profile looks a little like a ‘non/event’ but I can’t wait to hear that V12 mated to the new 8speed gearbox, flank active aero with a topless hirsute massage
I'm in too. It looks nothing like my other cars. I get the Comp engine that I couldn't get before, and it continues to grow on me.
The Daytona was very conservative in its time, as we all know. Do we have to talk about the L… space ship coming up in these times The combination of nearly complete retro and (for the first time) space ship is to much contrast for me. Do it one way, or the other. Yes, space ship for me, but no Daytona blink blink…
Not for nothing but all these opinions, be they positive or negative, are worthless unless you're offered the car and either turn it down or decide to buy it with moneys. Otherwise it's like having opinions about the supermodel that never offered to boink you ... fun to hear yourself talk about it, but fairly useless and definitely moot.
Looking so much better in my eyes, it destroys the design idea behind completely. And that is a mess. Do we have to paint panels, roof and other parts of the car to like it? No. They have to do a proper design.
