I agree and still like the car overall. I think I and of course others agree that it's not fair to say offically that-

"this was a street version of the Factory Challenge car"

Just because parts were not installed and the car was otherwise modified.

My main concern for this particular car is if it was involved in a big wreck or track incident and subsequently repaired/restored.

If I were to buy this car, I could actually restore it challenge spec quite a bit as I have of a ton of challenge parts. However, I still would be missing the F40LM brakes, roll cage, challenge shocks/springs, and a few other misc items.

Modificata actually sold their challenge car. I believe to a client in Europe. That car was very complete. Only thing it was missing was the OMP seats, but they recovered the seats they had nicely still giving one 95% of the challenge experience. It was restored beautifully inside out. It’s less “challenging” to restore than find unobtanium parts. They started off with a good base, restored it beautifully and it caught someone’s eye. You are correct, there is a market for that.

I believe Modificata does have set of F40Lm brakes off a car, so who knows? They might be eyeing this car.

I would probably enjoy a challenge car on nice roads too, but many collectors aren't willing to tolerate uncomfortable race cars the same way.

Maybe using exact wording I used isn’t a good idea. They’re going to think I have multiple accounts.

Different IPs, different devices, and I’ve used that account for years.

But yeah I probably should’ve paraphrased that.

Thanks for quoting me, Ken. To anybody, I worked on my db for 30 years now and it is complete (coverage is 99.987 %), covering the Factory's total production, means every S/N is identified by model-type. The majority is added with in and out liveries and options and with tons of cars there is information available from the massive archive. I'm happy to answer any reply (if time allows) or just use f-register.com. The complete db is available there for subscribers. And I am sure happy about any details on certain S/Ns that would make the db more complete and correct (what it probably is ;) )

Ferrari challenge cars are on a different value trajectory not only because they’re race cars, legitimately rare in terms of production let alone cars still in existence, but also because of the impact they have on client scores. Having a challenge car in your MODIS profile helps your client ranking significantly more than a comparable street car would and this really matters if you’re looking for VS allocations. Considering how many people buy cars they don’t really want and often that heavily depreciate (no offense but including Lussos, Portos, Cali, Romas etc) to improve their profile score they can impact that score exponentially by owning a challenge car as well or instead. Participate in the series or club with it and the reward is even greater. Every time SP or VS cars are expected to be launched there’s a bump in prices as collectors buy into challenge cars and unless Ferrari suddenly stops caring if their cars are raced by privateers that’s just going to continue.

I wish I knew what "MODIS profile" and "VS allocations" mean. I guess by not knowing, those factors don't apply to me. I just enjoy tracking my F355 Challenge and honing my skills. A big thrill is sharing tracks like Watkins Glen and Sebring with pro drivers in David Murry Advanced Open Track events. It was an honor and privilege to be out on the track with, for example, this Mercedes-AMG GT4 Team at Watkins Glen...

But to get back on the topic of the F355 Market, I wonder if the "30,000 Mile Rule" applies to my car, now with just over 25,000 miles. :D

That car has lived a rough life. It was maintained well, but the cosmetics were poor. I remember seeing the engine in pieces when it was being rebuilt and the tech showing showing me some of the carnage. Looks like Autosport did a good job with the mini-refurbishment, but then again good cameras can make turds look like Michelin star cuisine.

Not to say it's a bad car by any stretch, but it has been well used.

I'm not sure a used 30yr old challenge car helps all that much with your profile. It might help a little, and it certainly can't hurt, but Ferrari won't suddenly bump you up to VIP status without buying new cars. Buying a current challenge car and actually racing and/or participating in events is a different story.
