I think if a person loves the idea of a blacked out car and they were going to spec it that way that's one thing.

But I can't imagine spending north of half a milon a car and doing black to hide what one thinks are its design flaws. For that price, or any price for that matter, I think someone should feel like the design is such that it speaks to them and moves them a great deal, not something they have to work around.

    Sigh.

Agree. Just having trouble coming to terms with the idea that I don't want the last NA V12 Ferrari.

C'est la vie. The world is still a better place with the 12 Cilindri in it.

I’m in the boat of trying to fall in love with this car because I love the Ferrari V12. I like it and do love that many people seem to love it.

When I saw the 812 GTS — I just had to have it. When I took delivery it was even more exhilarating than I imagined it to be. I couldn’t wait to see it and loved seeing pictures of it. With the 12cilindri I find myself forcing myself to like it because the media day reveal videos are using the right words but are describing the wrong car.

yes it’s very elegant and pretty but I don’t get that giddy excitement I felt seeing the 812 gts.

alas, it’s very possible I’ll spec and buy one as it might be the last production Ferrari V12 and maybe I’ll find a spec that suits it to my taste. But,.as others have said — any other Fcars I bought wasn’t this type of almost forced sentiment. I think that’s what upsets me.

I just don't understand this intransigence on the rear black bits when I've seen people allowed to do horrendous TM specs on previous models that are way more offensive to those models' inherent design than color matching a couple of aero bits on the 12C. Saying this is the one thing we're going to force down your throat reeks of design insecurity. Even more so on the Spider which doesn't have that whole shooting brake delta wing thing on it. Why are we forcing a black truck and aero bits on that when its flat decklid doesn't have to be harmonious with the rear hump of the coupe?

I like the Spider because it's less visible and I think it actually works on it, but people should have that choice.

The coupe is not for me. I've actually never seen a car model that there has been such a personal desire gap between its coupe version and cab version. It almost seems impossible that I would like one so much and dislike one so much in the same model.

Lots of opinions about the looks, love, hate, front, side, back, haptics etc. Those are all personal opinions and valid as such.
My big disappointment is the size- it’s bigger and heavier with a minimal upgrade in the horsepower department ( yes I know it’s a great engine!) but without some kind of assist its performance will be marginally better at best and I’ll have to remember to fold the mirrors before I knock them off pulling in the garage!

To my knowledge, this stems from Manzoni's comments to Top Gear. Perhaps Ferrari will afford its clients more freedom. I hope so.

Well, my first thought was "that's all?"
but then I saw it in reality here in Miami and I really love it - not from the beginning but after an hour or so.
This is the first time that a Ferrari spider is more beautiful than the coupe in my eyes!
I wanted a new car - something different- and not the modification of my 812 and here it is!
The design is as new and different as the design of my BMW Z8 was in 2000 and the Z8 is still beautiful after nearly a quarter century and it was criticized hardly at the beginning.
The design of the 12C will age really well I guess from the outside - and here is the difference to the Z8 - the interior of the 12C is not fitting to the outside.
Clear design outside - and lines mixed up inside...
    Just my 2 cents.
I've ordered the Coupe and will sell my 812 and later I'll get the spider in exchange for the Coupe.

Final answer: The black bits are terrible and need to be painted body color on the spider. Ferrari will probably charge $20K for that. The 50 KG active aero is dumb. Had Manzoni skipped these elements the car would have been a winner for almost everyone. Instead, there are a lot of long time Ferrari guys that don't like the car. Manzoni has no sense of elegance.

The design is dumb. The name is dumber.

The only thing new and good on this car is the center screen.

Shouldn’t this great center screen ALSO have been in the Puro SUV?

Hilarious decision making: no center screen on SUV but put one in the sports car.

    Clown show.

I would have said less screens. It's a V12 Ferrari. I don't need screens. The amount of screens on the 812 is the max.

Once you’ve paid the car you’re allowed to paint every black part in body color. Maybe will you loose your warranty, but who cares…

    1. Weirdly retro up front
    2. Weirdly futuristic at back
    3. Weirdly unsculpted slab on the sides
    4. Weird name owners will have to awkwardly explain constantly

Order book will go off a cliff after initial 6-month ‘we were going to buy the new 12 no matter what’ wave subsides

The lack of the center screen on the Puro has been replaced by that rotating circle dial. Would have been better switching the two things between the two models maybe?

How these side aero flaps got approved design wise is beyond me. It looks like they glued a Lego brick remover on a mechanical arm.

I think Lamborghini revuelto lot it’s much more for you and you have another forum to discuss Lego and brick but don’t forget to plug

I have no idea what you just said, or how the Revuelto is relevant to the design choice of the 12C's aero flaps. But no, I don't have any interest in the Revuelto's design.

Having had time to study both versions since it was launched and allowed my previous pre-conceived expectations to vanish I've changed my stance somewhat. The more I look at the Spyder the more I like it, especially in that new launch metallic green colour. The Coupe will need more time for me to appreciate it and might never happen but I really dig the Spyder.
My main concern remains unabated which is the sheer size of both in both length and especially the width. If it is indeed 8'' wider than the 812, then it could be a real deal breaker for me where I live, as I already feel my 812SF is the absolute limit of what I can safely drive on our narrow B roads without having another 8'' to contend with.

This is a GT and not a race car so thank god there is no need for a mobile phone mount to find your way.
I’m happy when I get rid of the poor navigation and the small screen of my 812 but I will miss some buttons definitely.

In all honestly I won't be rushing out to order one. The size and huge cost to change right now is too much for me to consider swapping my 812 for one. Mine is a pre GPF so sounds incredible. The 12C will be heavier, sound inferior, has a substantially bigger footprint and cost about £250k to switch even If I like the look of it.
Maybe in a couple of years when the new car depreciates I'll take a different stance but at least in the short to midterm I'll be happier keeping my 812.

    Exactly.

Me too, I’ll take no GPF over 9,500 any day of the week.

New car does absolutely nothing better.

Wholeheartedly agree, not worth the $$$ to swap. Can’t see any reason to do so.

Enzo said the best Ferrari is always the next one. Well, that certainly doesn’t apply here.
