I sat in a 599 the other day for the first time. I found that the seat back was too narrow. The sales guy said that the seat bolsters were adjusted as far as they can go. He chalked it up to being carbon fiber seats. I am looking for any insight if that is the case or the seat was just improperly adjusted. I am 6'-1" 220lbs.
I sat in a 430 that they had and the seats were much better fitting, but did nor like the peddle placement. It seemed the front wheel well intruded into the peddle area. Maybe you get used to it.

Before considering another model of car, take a look at another 599 as well. Maybe the salesman had the bolsters fully inflated vs deflated. I found the first 599 I looked at to be very tight as well.

The seats could be ordered in different sizes, small, medium and large. Perhaps the seats in the vehicle you were inspecting were small or medium. Check out other 599s to see how the seats compare. My seats are medium and I find them very comfortable.

If the seats are electric seats I don't think they could be ordered in S,M,L. Thats for the race style seats. As far as I can recall, the race seats could not be ordered in the USA- something about the DOT and how the airbags work.

I have the electric seats in my car and a larger person once told me he also thought they were tight. I'm more like 5'8" 170 and they work for me.

Thank you all for the information. Can you clarify that there is an adjustment to the seat back "wings"? Where is that switch located, so that next time I can try adjusting it.
I really want the seats to fit me, before I start looking for a car.

If its the electric seats if you look on the lower side there should be 2 two way switches and I believe one controls the side bolsters and the other controls the lumbar support. Its been a while and my car is in storage right now. Search for some 599 seat pictures and I'm sure you'll see them.

Thanks for the reply. I got this picture off the internet and it looks like the vertical button on the left should be adjusting the "wings" or side bolsters for the seat back.
The second picture is the type of seat I am talking about. Is that a regular or sport seat?

In your first picture the two vertical buttons on the right control the bolsters. I numbered the buttons to make it easier. Button #1 controls the seat bolsters, button #2 controls the seatback bolsters. From memory, I believe it's up to inflate and down to deflate?

The second picture is a regular Daytona electric seat. If properly adjusted it should fit you easily. I'm 6'0 and 220 pounds and with the side bolters fully deflated I had lots of room to spare. With those same exact seats I have the bolsters inflated about halfway.

Yes, the seat memory and heater were optional. I don't remember if they were part of the same package or not though.

Thank you. This gives me hope. I will go back and try adjusting the bolsters.

An update. I went back to the dealership this past weekend. They had two 599's there and both were 2007 model year. I sat in both of them and made sure that the seat bolster bladders were totally deflated. I am still too broad in the upper torso to fit in the racing seats. It seems as I am resting on top of the seat back instead of in the seat.
I then sat in a 430, a 612 and an F12. All these cars had regular seats and not racing seats. These seats fit me well and were very comfortable.
So I have the following questions?
    1. Were any 599's configured with regular seats?
    2. Are the seats the same for all years?
    3. Can a regular seat be replaced into a 599?
Thank you for all the help.

I have been reading some of the literature on line and have read on autobog
Build your own Ferrari 599 GTO
that the cars came with 3 options for the racing seats. (S, M, L).
So the question is how can you check from the car's VIN what seat it came from the factory.
Also how to check it physically when at the car?
    Thanks

I found the F12 seat much tighter than my 599! There was no seat sizing necessary in the 599 [ according to the 2006 brochure] but just to be sure I would look at trying a few more. My 599 is a late 2008. This is from the brochure.

Thanks for the info. Did your 599 come with racing seats?
The F12 I sat in did not have racing seats(I don't believe), but more like the F430 seats.

Yes mine did come with racing Daytona seats, I am also a big guy and do find the seats tight, but as I said not as tight as most Ferrari's and as its not a daily driver, I tend to drive for 2-3 hours max. to go to shows, Ferrari owners club events etc, they are fine for me. I tend to slouch in i,t and have the base not quite all the way back and have the back reclined until it hits the bulk head then lift away a fraction. All the bolsters are not blown up. I think they all came with racing seats of one style or another.

I would like to know the function of the Circular Button with 4 arrows located towards the rear of the seat(s)? Any Clues?

It's interesting that this circular button is not mentioned in the manual.

If my memory is correct, it is not explained in the manual but in the Scaglietti manual which is a smaller one.
