Are the silver ones the new ones?

 

I like the 550 wheels

 

Looks great. Definitely an improvement. I would get a rear spacer though personally. Consensus is 25mm although I find 25mm spacers make the car understeer on corner exit far to much. I personally favor a milder 15mm spacer / target final offset around 17-20 or so but that is just me.

This does remind me I need to get around to selling my Hamann wheel set but that different day problem.

 

Lance- They look great. All the Maranello wheels look great on a 456/456M and update the look with 18" or 19" wheels. My old 575M 18" wheels are on a 456M.

 

I’ve never understood the look of black wheels on beautifully sculpted automobiles. To my eye they diminish the overall appearance of the vehicle. Wonderful upgrade Lance.

 

I love the 550 wheel look on the 456. And the best part, they are so easy to clean: smooth, few spokes, no crevices.

 

Look great with the 550 wheels Lance! The color of your 456 is stunning.

If anyone wants go with the 575 look for their 456/550 I have the below for you.

Those are very nice. Are they a direct swap or do they require spacers ?

575 18s are a direct swap, but look better with spacers in the rear as well.

Right, like Henry Ford once said "You can have any color you want as long as it's black" or in the case of wheels, silver. That's the only "proper" color for wheels, other than the occasional gold/copper look. But it's a generational thing I think. The generations that grew up with Hot Wheels, etc. like the black wheels, matte paint look, etc. It's a fad and it'll fade eventually.....I hope.

Well I freely admit when I am wrong! Those are indeed the exact same wheels! Perhaps the the photo in the first post is a slightly updated version? While very, very similar there are small details that are different (outer center edge and level/degree of concavity right around the wheel bolt recesses)

 

They're custom wheels and can be ordered in different offsets which accounts for those minor differences you see. I was going to get that same set for my 550 which I was tracking at the time but then my F355 Challenge came along.

Those are nice looking wheels though.

 

Thank you guys. Damn, I need these. I wonder if I can/should order the OEM 456 size or is the knowledgeable consensus to “size up” with spacers and/or is there an impact on handling.

I would put at least 18" wheels on her or 19" if you prefer. Ideal sizes would be 9" F and 11" R. We can figure out the offsets so you do not need spacers if you like.

 

550 wheels are gorgeous, Lance, and look great on your 456GT. I remember reading years ago how they were voted prettiest wheels of the year.

Ideal spec for the platform is subjective.
Personally after LOTS of testing, I favor:

18/19x9 et38, no lower than 28
18/19x11.5 et20, no lower than 10
