I know what Cuoio is after all this time, sheez! Congrats! Yes tastes can definitely vary - I can see why people like it even if it drives me nuts!!! Enjoy sir
Let me know what you find, I’m in the same boat. Supposedly there’s a widely available (cheap) unit where you can swap over the pulley and maybe part of the housing from the OEM unit. Still reading into that option so the info is worth about as much as you paid for it.
There are kits available that allow the compressor to be rebuilt by a good tech. Kit is cheap, labor is not, but you end up with your original compressor as new. My techs in Albuquerque rebuilt mine. Still going strong nearly 6 years later. C- She looks great to me. Congratulations.
Sadly Bobileff said the sublet they use for this kind of thing is backed up through 2024 already. So either I gotta find another sublet or a totally different way for them to do it on shop labor. It sounds like they won't rebuild compressors/alternators/etc on in-house labor.
Gotcha. I've been dealing with Carlo on this. I sort of guessed that's what you meant, but wasn't sure.
Thanks all! Did anyone know Ferrari Chat member 2000 456M (Allan)? They were the previous owner of mine. Been about 2 years since they have been on the site. Was cool to read their posts to get some more history of the work done over the years. They seemed to have been one of the longest owners (~10 years).
Just stumbled across this Grigio Ingrid MGT online: https://www.ferrarisiliconvalley.com/used-Redwood+City+-2001-Ferrari-456M-GT-ZFFWL44A810122507
Nice catch. I didn’t look at all the pictures before posting. I would hope they are planning to fix that before the new owner takes delivery. Wouldn’t surprise me if they got broken and they are waiting on new ones or trying to find some.
Does anyone here know this car? I think it was posted on a used car site last year. I’m looking for a 456M GT but it looks like they’re asking for the Silicon Valley mogul tax on this one….
Price seems ambitious but not aspirational. If it was a solid tan or cuoio interior and it passed PPI I could see getting their ask or very close. The two tone interiors don’t typically command top dollar so hard to say on this car. MGT are a significant premium over GT’s and there aren’t that many of either with 20k miles left.
Still looking for a fully sorted manual if anyone has a lead. Bonus points for blue, green, or red over tan.
Fabio is making the same of setup for my 456M (rear bypasses), albeit w custom tips of my own design. Come summer I should have the same setup (OEM headers > OEM midpipe > Fabio bypasses) and will try to post a clip then. Fingers crossed it fixes my raspy current midpipe bypass sound and I like it.
Between all the other work my 456 needs and my ongoing cooling issues, headers would be ill-advised at this time. Not to mention, I am still looking for a competent shop/tuner who can SAFELY remap its BOSCH monotonic ECU. Headers WILL need a remap else will through a CEL. Ask how I know...
I have used Rod Drew from FAI in Costa Mesa (LA) to solve my 456M Bosch motronic issues. initially I sent my ECU’s to him and he discovered 2 different programs on there. In the end I had to bring the car in and he solved all my issues, including the secondary air monitor that just did not want to close. I would at least give him a call and discuss your job with him. Good luck and keep us posted!
