[ATTACH] Speed form.
Did your order recently go 10G? I'm wondering if that's the trigger for the second part of the gift to be sent out.
Typically in my experience it could take a month or two for the production to stay in 10G. Once it goes 10R it should be 4-8 weeks til completion. After that it depends on the method of shipping and your location. There are always exceptions…. My Roma spider has been at stage 60 for about 10 weeks. ♂️♂️♂️
This test is poorly done on many levels. First, they say something like what is the need for this when the standard car is already so capable! That wasn’t the general tone I remember being used for press tests of the standard car?! They then talk about this same line that every journalist has picked on about this car destroying the value of the XX programme. What utter rubbish! It’s called XX Stradale or Spider. I don’t think the message can be any clearer. This is a track special in the line of Scuderia, Speciale and Pista. But, as with the standard SF90, it is more extreme. It has a redesigned, longer tail, much more aggressive aero including a wing for the first time since the F50, even more sophisticated electronics including a boost system for the first time and it took 1.7s off the Fiorano lap time of the standard SF90 - much more than any of the other cars I listed beat their compatriots by. I am genuinely confused by the narrative about destroying the XX name - not a single 599XX, FXX or FXXK owner is going to throw his hands up and say “that’s it, I’m selling my race car because they built a road car with a different name but containing the same two letters that are on the back of my ultra rare track machine.” Why did nobody say to McLaren when they released the first road going ‘LT’, the 675LT, that it doesn’t compare in any way to the Le Mans LT race cars so they are ruining the name? Easy. Because it’s a smart marketing strategy. Taking the name of a track only race car and using it to say “we have influenced our road car to be faster and better on track” is just good sales sense. Can you imagine Ferrari engineers putting significant effort into their car - more than the previous track specials - and all the press want to talk about is two letters in its name that they think ruins the legacy of super limited track-only cars they made years ago?! I remember when journalists used to be proper sources of information. Now? Shmee is better, whether you like him or not, he works harder, has the viewpoint of an owner, has learned how to drive well and gives much better perspective than the drivel we get served by ‘journalists’ these days. The test talks little about what the car is like to drive and instead just gushes on about why did they build it and how misguided an idea it is. Let owners decide why they want it for themselves, we just want to hear how the track adaptations translate to the road - and in a spider no less. What a wasted review and I hope Ferrari pull them up on this. XX Spider; an extreme version of an already brilliant car, following a now 20 year tradition from the Challenge Stradale up to the Pista, of universally popular mid-engined track adapted V8 cars. It’s more extreme than any of them and so carries an extreme name. And it should be brilliant on the road, even better with a spider roof so we can hear the machine and feel its speed more. I said ‘should’ be better. But we still don’t know do we? He never talked about that. Get a grip please and do the job properly and ignore this lazy narrative that every journalist follows because they reckon they’re on ‘safe’ ground. Owners will decide what this car is for - and they are all already sold - so let’s talk about the important things please.
I agree. My interpretation of the use of the XX name is to connote a greater level of performance than you get with the typical VS- that is due to the aero additions, which are visually extreme for a street Ferrari. What I want to know is how the car compares to the standard car. It seems this review gets us a little closer. https://www.evo.co.uk/ferrari/206736/ferrari-sf90-xx-spider-review-on-the-road-with-ferraris-open-top-track-car
I have mentioned this before, I have zero interest in the opinion of journalists, more than once I have screwed myself by listening to them, both pro and against, I bought on their enthusiasm and ended up not liking the car, bought cars which they were very negative on and ended up loving the car, only person I trust is myself, we are all different and like different things, this review is one man's opinion, unfortunately rather than being professional and provide an unbiased opinion he went personal, I am not really interested in what he personally thinks but rather in what the car is like to drive, like a judge, I really don't want to hear what he/she thinks about the case but rather what the unbiased truth is. IMO he should have provided more detailed info in relation to how the car actually drives rather than the ***** fest he's displayed, of course he's entitled to his opinion but I got nothing out of it other than the glaring obvious, waste of time watching the video. The SF90 is already a ballistic missile it would be very hard for any manufacturer to push the product even further, big challenge IMO so I am not expecting any miracles or huge differences, I hoping to learn about the subtle driving differences/characteristics between the two in an unbiased review but this wasn't the review which helped with that so I guess I will wait for my hands on experience when mine will be delivered. The XX will be a more focus SF90 Assetto Fiorano packaged car, my AF SF90 is still a little bit soft and in a Spider I like that, one thing I agree with the guy is that the Coupe XX looks a lot better than the Spider where I think that in the standard versions the Spider looks better than the coupe so my challenge will be, keep both Spider and Coupe (XX) or add a 296 Spider for the open top experience end sell my current Spider, it will be a challenging decision because I love my current SF90 Spider and I would hate to see it go.
I echo the sentiments of others who have an XX coming, in not giving a damn what a keyboard artist has to say. My bigger concern is with quality, as neither my 296 GTS or SF90 have been good. In fact, they’ve been plagued with a myriad of problems. But…that’s for a different thread.
That review seems much more informative and balanced. They ultimately prefer the coupe but at least acknowledge the spider brings you closer to the thrills. Which is why sometimes would choose one. If you want to use it only on track, go coupe. But for the road, has to be the spider for me.
Agree - more specifically if you knew anything about Ferraris this question has been asked since 16M, then SA, then Pista Spider, and now SF 90 XX Spider.. all turned out quite exceptional Did like the 458 Speciale shoutout
Topgear is the least favorite of all reviewers now. They are good at introducing cars at launch event but anything other than that has so poor quality I skip watching most of times. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I totally agree with you - for some reason the last Top Gear 2-3 vids on YouTube re the SF90XX cars are less about the cars and more about ‘bashing’ what they are and where they sit in the lineup…. Top Gear should have some serious changes in their Modus Operundi regarding Ferrari new cars ….. It’s almost a given now that even before you see a Top Gear New Ferrari YouTube video , that they’ll be overall negative - almost smarmy in their negative sniping remarks littering a ‘non-review’…. I’m surprised Ferrari bother giving Top Gear access like they do — Ferrari is going from strength to strength whereas Top Gear is fading from its glory years ….. I might be (positively ) biased with Ferrari, but Top Gear purport to be independent car journalists - they are however , frequently , negatively biased . . .
The journalist praises the car dynamically. He just thinks that making a spider on this type of car is pointless. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. His favourite which is the Speciale, has a spider, the Pista too and so does the Competizione. The LaF also has an Aperta, I wonder if he thinks that is pointless too…All of these cars are far more valuable than their coupe siblings which ultimately shows what the market thinks of them and that is all that matters. I agree that the couple is slightly better looking, but I think in the end the spider will command a larger premium Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
That's a matter of scarcity and not a true reflection of a car's driving quality. Personally, I don't get the allure of open top sports cars, but I understand that some people like the "outdoorsy" experience. For me a cabriolet makes more sense as a boulevard cruiser (something like a Mercedes CLE).
I think a reviewer should bear this in mind. I think the TG reviewer is looking at the car in isolation. This is only part of the story. I also think you have to realize the person who gets one of these cars probably has several other cars- which could be anything. They could have the track only XX car, they could have a TDF, who knows, so maybe for that person, having the al-fresco experience is worth the trade off in rigidity. In the end these are all street cars, so they are all not anywhere near a real track car. A few of the owners of this car might even own a 499P Modificata. So why not have the Spider and enjoy the wind in your face as the Italians say. In my case, I can tell you, years ago, I was someone who would prefer the coupe for the rigidity. But now, the cars have become so good, and so fast... I thought Chris Harris had a great point in his review of the 812 GTS, he said yes, there is a little more shake due to it being open, but quite cleverly, since the car is so powerful, and so good, that you just don't notice it, unless you go looking for it. I have a feeling this will be just as true, if not more, with the SF90XX Spider.
Here’s a review that at least talks about the car and the way it looks and drives. Pretty positive but mainly leaves working out whether Ferrari should have built it or called it XX up to the owners so, bravo.
I can’t wait to see more photos of your XX. I’m anxiously waiting my car — which I anticipate will go into production sometime late this year or early 2025. Congratulations on getting what will be one of the first XX (if not the very first) in North America. Are you air-freighting the car?
Thanks! Mine is mainly the launch spec with numbering. Was not given that option for air but can ask. Worst case will be on the slo-mo boat. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Yesterday the first Ferrari SF90XX Spider was delivered in Spain, first in country and maybe in the EU? Jorge HG
