The 'force is strong in this one' lol. Newey seems rather clear he is burnt out and wants a break. When he is ready for a new 'project' when it arrives to him he will know. Not sensing another F1 team is the answer for him currently.
Most interesting article about this topic to date in my opinion. https://www.f1oversteer.com/news/ted-kravitz-shares-why-he-believes-adrian-newey-isnt-retiring-after-red-bull-exit/
I personally would stick with the facts i.e. Newey's video with Brundle. Anything else is someone's else's opinion. Even #TeamLH says Newey and Hamilton will help Ferrari win Hamiltons 8th title and "comparing" this to Schumacher and team moving from Benetton to Ferrari. They also make reference to RedBull: 1) Imploding 2) sinking of a ship 3) Mass hysteria within RedBull It's crazy.
The rumours right that are doing the rounds right now are so stupid. Newey makes a friendly handshake with Pierro Ferrari = deal done according to some. But Newey has been smiling and shaking hands with half the grid this weekend. It doesn't suit the narrative so those handshakes are all ignored...
He'd had Ferrari's before, including a 288 GTO and he used to race a 430 Challenge (or GT3, can't remember).
I’ve just released a public statement that there will be no 8th championship for Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari or any other team. The whole thing was just a development idea for another Netflix series….”spitballing,” we call it.
Yes - I was pulling from memory... not bad for a 56 year old! Auto Union were the Redbull of the day... cocky and innovative with some guy called Porsche running the team and designing the cars....
Actually, I could see this. Newey has said in his book that he wants an equity stake in an F-1 team. So both Ferrari and Mercedes are not going to give him that... they may give him stock but not a real equity position... with Williams Dorilton capital ... I could see that happening.... he could effectively do a Brawn.... I think that is more what he is looking for as a swan song performance.
I don’t believe he wants to manage a Formula One team with all the inherent tensions coming along.. Absolutely contradictory with his statements last weekend about being a little bit tired.
He got out of his Red Bull contract with the exact amount of time necessary to build the new Ferrari for 2026. The moon and stars have aligned for the greatest designer to work with the greatest team, with the driver who has the most wins in the history of F1. How many believe his press statement that he's too old to take advantage of all these cosmic events that have been laid out in front of him? Or is it more likely he just wants the press heat to die down, and he tossed out a statement during the Miami weekend to through them off their relentless pursuit of the biggest story in F1's history? Well he has suffered injury and survived. Has alluded to not needing more money and has a multi-million Pound Sterlins Sailing Yacht in production. He has no idea what his next project could or should be and has been debating this for years, not a year and Eddie Jordan has also confirmed this. He genuinely sounds like he has other ideas for his limited time left on the planet given he is not that fairly young any more. My bet is he does leave and enjoy some other types of living. There is very much more than F1 in this life. He has more than made his mark and the semi-toxic environment in F1 and RedBull would seem sufficient to evoke such thoughts. His wife is more than happy at telling RedBull to p-ss off given her comments on social media at times. Do you think she has a say in this. Of course!
Equity does not necessarily imply management in the accepted meaning, but it does strongly imply control, which I believe is what he wants if he stays in the game.
So is there "Newey" person within McLaren, whom could have been the genious behind the car's significant improvement?
When you reach true Rock Star Status in a rock star type industry (F1) you don't stop at 65 because you are too old. Hard to trade that true drive that made you a legend for puttering around in the garden or sitting on a boat. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Indeed, The deciding factor is that he’s loving what he’s doing for decades.. Some here are ignoring this key parameter. He just wants a stable environment, his own rhythm, and being able to decide where and when. Ferrari will provide him everything he wants believe me..
