City now trying to save these two buildings the FEDS want to tear down to make a park The Feds bought them 15 years ago for security reasons and have never taken care of them. So now it will be costly to repair. Sneaky feds wanted to tear them down when they bought them, at the time promising to renovate. Several interesting things: - looks pretty cool and I like the open park area - Also like the fact, that the UFO is gone and Soldier field's columns have been liberated - I'll never understand Chicago politics: For this monstrosity (pretty as it is, but look at the sheer size) it's ok to have it on the shore front, but for Lucas' Star Wars museum it wasn't?
I am sure the friends of the park ing lot will reject this also. Plus, the state has to foot too much of the bill. This is not TEXAS where sports team facility taxes are big and considered normal
so is this demolish and rebuild? or another "renovation"? if the former how are they going to get around the historic landmark status?
