Can't wait for this weekend; will be at Bonhams auction at La Vigie Friday late afternoon, in paddock Saturday, RM auction late afternoon that day and Sunday am invited to a VIP terrace overlooking the uphill part of the track:)

    Some great dinners planned too;-)!

Weather looks perfect, 23c, sunny all three days:cool:.

Thanks Bruce, will do, love that weekend, no huge crowds, enthusiasts only and real cars that don't sound like vacuum cleaners;-)

I will be there too. The ticket prices are insane, 100€ for the whole weekend, where you pay 600€+ for the real F1 GP with worse cars

Hey Marc, Not to turn this thread into the "good old days" thread but why not. The "Au Bar" after hours from Cavallino. Obviously we were much younger and what a blast we had. Days gone and almost forgotten.

Cavallino and the GP de MC are still the high points of my year, even if both have "evolved" a bit over time- I started attending both in 1992, but still need to arrive in MC early some time to take in the vintage races for the first time.

For those in the US if you’re still up:

set your recorders for 3AM and 6AM Saturday. MAVTV (channel 214 on DirecTv) will have coverage according to tvracer.comp

EDIT: Also Sunday 3AM-11AM. This is going to break my DVR!

Just ran into Ollie Bearman in the pits, we all know he is is very bright but also super nice he tested two days ago with those rain wheel covers at Fiorano. Actually he was in the car following.
I asked him and he said they were totally useless.

I take your point, but am reluctant to forego the GP, and coming over early enough for the historic races too is just too much time out of the office. One of these days (maybe if/when I eventually retire) . . . !

A major French collector from the south of France, a very fast driver and a nice guy I have spoken with numerous times.
He wishes to stay anonymous as he owns factories and wants to stay under the radar. With French unions the way they are he is wise to do so

Many have raced with nicknames through the years.

Two drivers at Le Mans in I think the thirties raced as Ano and Nime (French for Ano and nymous)

For example ask "John Winter" a German who raced with that nickname in the eighties... until he won Le Mans!...and oops his family recognized him in the papers:)!

Thanks, Marc. I gathered as much but you’d think someone with those concerns would choose a less obvious nom de guerre. I never would have wondered about it if the entry had read “Paul Martin” or other common name.;)
