I thought buyer premium was capped at $5k?

I also agree with your comment about 2x an F1….as a reflection that to me means a buyer that knows what they want and has the cash and isn’t interested in waiting or screwing around. #GodBlessAmerica

Thanks for that. I was legitimately unaware.
I’m resigned to not buying another vehicle over “throw away money” without a PPI and I hadn’t paid attention to the increased fee.

    This market always surprises me…..
I am not knocking the red one you just sold (at all) but the difference in price for that vs the last red one you sold (I get it 50k mi is not 20k mi) but that guy that bought the 50k mile 550 is having a great time at a great price.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-ferrari-550-maranello-31/

    It’s just fascinating.

People will always want the original gated manual, it’s synonymous with Ferrari. The way a Rolex watch is automatic and not quartz. These will be worth a fortune in the future. If you personally own one and are not in a crunch, I’d never sell it

@Ferrarienthusiast71 20k miles is not low for Ferrari collectors.

Your other statement on long term value I don’t disagree with….i just don’t agree with your current assessment.

for what they are worth….the 575 is massively undervalued.

And as it pertains to me personally….opinions clearly vary….but I personally believe I own the single most desirable 550 in North America (fully loaded even quilted headliner and all MSW treats). A traditional Ferrari buyer would say my 550 is worthless because it has over 30k miles and is modified. The shame I should feel for changing my OEM wheel color ;-)

It was always a pinnacle dream car for me since I was a young banker in San Francisco in 2001 and it will be for sale by my wife or kids when I’m either not able to drive or in the ground.

Yeah I would definitely never sell that car of yours, I would keep that forever too. The 575 has the terrible mouth opening. A bad f1 shifter. And then if you try to swap that it won’t be original anymore. And that is terrible too. There’s just no winning with the 575. It’s also heavier!

    I legitimately considered several 575’s.

The evolutionary upgrades should not be underestimated.

I have a lack of “free time” and storage problem as a result of too many toys but I still frequently tell my wife I want to add a 575…..I hope we never see a driver mile white 575 for sale at a reasonable price.

I think a lot about @fatbillybob and @308 GTB and if I didn’t have my track turbo NB Flyin Miata….then a 575 with Trev and Fabio magic included would be a weapon of choice…..

Last Thursday when I rolled out of the garage to take the 550 in for its annual I pushed the remote on my Fabio exhaust at least 4 times in the driveway and smiled from ear to ear each time!

    550 is drive by cable.
The 575 is also drive by wire.
This means you push the pedal and are asking a computer to open the throttle for you. This is a big No no

Like every Ferrari since the 575... and nearly all cars since the 90s.

Charlie- You just do not understand most of this now. We all start that way, so just keep learning. If you really do not understand how something works, best not to comment on it.

For what it's worth, they're both awesome. Not as dissimilar as you'd think, though certainly both have distinctly unique qualities. For example, the fly by wire in the 575 makes it much more responsive in blipping on downshifts.

you know, it’s funny you mention that because I’ve noticed in all of my cars that have E throttle that is exactly the case. Totally not what I expected, but it really is a stark contrast to my 348 which was certainly cable. That’s not to say that car was unresponsive at all, quite a thrilling car…but I do think that the difference between the throttle and cable, once you factor in play, elasticity, length, etc…I’m not sure it makes a whole hill of beans in terms of delay.

I have a 456M with cable throttle bodies. I recently had both cables (there are 2) replaced and set-up at considerable expense so that they open in sync and fully. I assumed I was cool.

Car runs like hell and I recently learned that I require THROTTLE BALANCING AND TUNING. ALSO BENCH TESTING OF THE IDLE AIR CONTROLLERS. So these things all have pluses and minuses.

Sorry for the caps it was a copy/paste (edit for spelling).
