Im looking at purchasing a 458 and the dealer is offering a 3rd party warranty through freedom. Is this worth even considering or should I just bite the bullet and have it inspected for a Ferrari Power-15 warranty?

    Thanks!

Go power 15 warranty, build relationship with a dealer service department, it will go long way.

The issue I have is I do not know if the car will pass the Power-15 inspection until after I purchase the car, its not a sure thing. And being on the other side of the country isnt helping. I know I can get the other warranty from the current dealer selling the car.

you can always ask for the vehicle to be taken to the dealership nearest the selling dealer and ask them to do a pre-inspection/power warranty inspection

Kill two birds with one stone, get a pre-inspection that qualifies for the warranty or not

If it does not qualify for the warranty, that may be a negotiating point for you

The local dealer (Scottsdale AZ) does not do PPI's. They said you can do an oil change and have them check for leaks. They will do a Power-15 check but that process would take 6 weeks and cost $1700. I highly doubt the owner is willing to do that, but Ive asked.

So Im trying to find a reputable place that will do a full PPI and check stuff like clutch life.

My suggestion, if you will, get the power15 inspection.
    It acts as a PPI
It also is required to add the power15 warranty
Only way this does not work out in your benefit is if you do not buy the car.

Call in and speak with Larry Isaacs ( Service Manager )
Tell him Steve with Boardwalk Ferrari referred him to you, to see if he would be able to get the car in sooner than six weeks. ( they will need the car for 48 hours to perform the actual process + Time to do any required work to have it past the inspection )

PM If I can help further,

    Steve

    Texas!
Will a dealer do this on a 1998 Maranello, or is that too old?

    Asking for a friend.

Awesome thank you! I will definitely hit you up.

Nope, not a ferrari dealer or this would be much easier.

And nope, 15 years old is the max.

I agree, Steve provided great information on the Forum when I bought my Cali30 almost 2 years ago.

Read the fine print because their warranties have some major limitations on shop rates and total payout.
