It's the same one - goes into detail about how Stroll basically bought both seats at the best f3 team (Prema) and made sure he had the best car and no competition from his teammate, including illegal parts developed by Williams, then bought him tons of testing and the seat at Williams. Then he bought Force India to make sure he had the whole team built around him - at least he was smart enough to hire some wdc winners so he'd know if it was his son or the car (or both) that was the problem....
Certainly glad we've never seen "team orders" in other forms of racing... Oh wait. Maybe we could ask Ruebens about that? Assuming ((!) you're correct about the illegality of Stroll's car, what was done to him/the team as far as punishment? I can't find any mention of any punishment, but I can find plenty of "the car's illegal" comments...
A lot of wealthy people throw money at things very much at an arms length distance. Lawrence Stroll literally re-invented himself from the fashion business to run an F1 team and luxury car brand. Whether or not it was to benefit his son is very much immaterial. The guy is working his ass off FULL TIME and beyond and that is to be applauded. It is miles away from just writing cheques, this guy has thrown his whole working days into it.
No argument there. I applaud what he has done. His son being a driver for the team, that's limited as the team as a whole in the WCC standings can only go so far. All the money in the world doesn't buy top-tier race-craft. Lance Stroll will ALWAYS deliver mid-field results no matter how fast the car is as we have seen the 1st half of 2023.
And that's because he started the 2023 season with injured wrists due to falling off a bike in Mallorca.....go figure.
I have Stroll at 36 points after 7 races and Fernando at 96 points. This season Fernando has 33 points and Lance has 11 so Lance has scored 33% of Aston's points this season. Last season through 7 races he had scored only 27% of the team's points so he has actually improved year over year. Not saying that is great but the car seems significantly worse this year and Lance has improved his scoring relative to his teammate. I would put him as a solid mid-field driver.
Last year, for the whole season, Alonso scored over 80% of AMRF1's points. Give it time, Stroll will "impress" you.
I am already a fan,. I think Lance is exactly where he ought to be "a solid mid-field driver.", to paraphrase @Temerian
I think from a purely mathematical point that this season according to you AM has a total of 44 points with LS scoring 11 of those ...... would normally be 25% in math but hey if his supporters are this good at math then he'll be WDC by the end of the year
I'll still never forgive him for red flagging my session at Mt. Tremblant. We lost 30 minutes of track time because he forgot his jacket and had his helicopter pilot land in the middle of the circuit. He was 11 or 12 at the time.
He drives the same way on many occasions - no respect for his other competitors. He is a useless F1 roadblock.
Given the brutal nature of some of the comments here I truly wonder if those giving them would have the courage to express themselves in the same way to the face of the person they are judging without the anonymity of the internet to protect them? It is easy to just type out 'damn right I would' but it is another thing to actually say it to someone in person. Just a thought. I have found it interesting over the years how the general public views, judges, and openly bashes people in the public eye. Whether it be celebrities, athletes, or whomever it feels like people feel that these individuals deserve to be treated differently to anonymous people such as themselves. I, for one, do my best (although I'm far from perfect) to offer the same thoughts and opinions I would feel comfortable sharing in full exposure to the person or group I am commenting on. In addition I have always been weary of people who have super strong and absolute views on others without the ability to recognize strengths too. That lack of balance, and a belief that nobody is all bad, really is a great litmus test to see how impartial I feel a viewpoint is. I'll get off my soap box now
The same can be said for these SkySport journo's. The only journo I admire is Nico Rosberg because he sometimes ruffles the feathers whom he's interviewing instead of asking softball questions.
