    Not having a local dealer shouldn't be a deal breaker for those types of cars. I'm fortunate to live near one but it wouldn't have stopped me since modern cars are generally reliable and service happens annually. Also transporters.

    Agreed, I’m taking delivery of my T33 spider and Gemera in New Zealand - hopefully don’t have major issues!

    You guys are braver than I! Perhaps I’m overthinking it as usual, but I would really start to despise a car if transport services were needed every time it needed something minor or major.

    Oh dear. If you don’t like the rear black flaps just don’t buy the car. It look terrible painted in body colour. The lines are all over the place and it really doesn’t work. I’m with Manzoni. You don’t have to buy the car, but don’t try and make it into something it is not supposed to be. Best to stick with F12/812 in that case - they’re perfectly fantastic cars.

    The GMA cars are brilliantly conceived and very appealing. High risk though. I’ve dealt with Cosworth as a supplier. They have a great race-team type mentality. Which is of no use whatsoever when you need to keep the car reliable and serviceable.

    I do hope they will prove reliable enough but history says the chances of that are really quite low. They’ll be wonderful when they work though.

    Gordan Murray did talk about the ease of servicing and designed for reliability in some of his videos - How much of that is marketing or reality is anyone's guess

    The personal assessment I have made so far about the 12 C is based only on the images that Ferrari released and some other pictures that seem more realistic to me, but where it still appears camouflaged. As I mentioned already previously, although the design of the 12 C coupé doesn't excite me, I will only be able to have a more serious final opinion after seeing the car in person. That I will stick with the F12 is something that I can assure you because it is one of my cars that I will keep forever.
    As for the Head of Ferrari’s style centre who tells customers what they can do only over his dead body, I honestly think that Ferrari would make the biggest deal ever if they bought Architect Manzoni for what he's really worth and then sold him for what he thinks is worth.

    Exactly. The design does not excite because Ferrari literally destined the car to achieve ‘sober elegance’ and to look ‘spare.’ Thanks Ferrari. Thanks for purposely designing your cars to be Aston Martins. I guess you don’t want to appeal to Ferrari buyers. You want to appeal to Aston Martin buyers. You want to be Aston Martin instead of Ferrari.

    I don't think it looks like an Aston. And personally, I'm OK with it not being aggressive. It's entirely consistent with Ferrari tradition to have cars like this in the lineup.

    Restrained elegance won't appeal to all of Ferrari's customers, but it does appeal to many of us. It's wrong to think that we all want the same things, and equally wrong to think that we should.

    Which, incidentally, is why I don't understand the mindset of imposing the black trim on people who dislike it. To me, it looks contrived and dominates an otherwise beautiful shape. It doesn't bother me that others like it. But it's clearly divisive. What exactly is wrong with letting customers choose the design they prefer?

    You’re probably right - but NZ is such a great place to drive with less cameras and radars plus zero traffic on stunning roads. So on balance - happy to take the risk.

    With you on this, I think the new cars look like a true Ferrari GTS should look. I’m not getting my wish of smaller, lighter and no haptics but I think I’m getting an elegant car with great performance in the tradition of Ferrari.

    Serious question: did the 550 look elegant or aggressive when it came out?

    To my eyes, more of the V12’s were elegant and classy designs than aggressive.

    I'll take a guess here. If you paint or wrap the flaps then the shape of the rear window is goofy because the back edges curve out to them on either side at the base. Which is what he was trying to accomplish to make that shape echo what he did with the roofline. The "over my dead body" rant is a designer saying that you are not the right quality of customer to understand the design and thus would ruin something so central to the purpose of the car's theme.

    If you take so long to convince yourself that you either love or hate the car then you are just not moved by the car. A $600k car needs to evoke emotion one way or the other unless you are looking to qualify for the LEs in which case don't buy any options and flip accordingly. A public company just wants sales so they are cool with it. Its the lack of sound that's the real head scratcher and a deal breaker. This car is not a keeper as many have figured out. Every model has a purpose.

    My excitement about this car bordered on obsessive before the launch. This was never about qualifying for a LE car - I can't compete in that arena. This was my first and perhaps last chance to spec a V12 Ferrari myself. I want that engine. I wanted to build a keeper. I planned to lobby for a TM or Atelier build and go nuts.

    But I agree. I'm not going to drop $600k on a car that I don't love. And I just can't get past the black bits. Silly as it sounds, they're probably the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger. Which is (a) disappointing given how eagerly I was anticipating the car and (b) frustrating given how easily the design could be improved to my eyes.*

    I'm not making any decisions until I see the car in person. But I suspect I'll be hunting for a special 812 instead of spec'ing my own.

    Sigh.

    * Personally, I think the rear (including the rear window) looks considerably less goofy with the flaps painted. I'm not trying to convince anyone they should agree with me. But I know what looks good to me...and what doesn't.

    Maybe they are saving this option for TM, then they could abstract more creativity of ones pocket :) my 2cents without the black strip in front it loses that Daytona vibe in the front …..really looking forward to what you all come up with !

    I could live with that "fix" at the rear. Front looks better as is, IMO.

    I agree, front looks great. The biggest problem for me is that strange roof shape - with the glass portion of the roof and in a light colour, it looks like its got a receding hairline
