Let’s say you have bad gas in the tank and you don’t want to start the car… what’s the easiest way to drain or siphon the current gas out of the car from your garage in order to fill it with fresh gas? I understand you can’t siphon gas from a capless gas tank…

I vaguely recall that the toolkit has a funnel widget for letting you pour gas from a can with a spout, which should allow you to pass a tube through it. You’d need a really long tube to get to the bottom of the tank but if you can get most of it then you can dilute what’s left with mostly good fuel. Do not put the key to the run position or the fuel pump will run and clog up the filter with all the crap you’re trying to get out of the tank. If it’s already happened then you might as well attach a line to the fuel injector rail on the engine and let the cars own pump drain the tank. I assume you’ll be changing the filters anyway?

A simple siphon will work. If you lived through the 70's as a kid, you learned how to siphon gas. :D

I always thought that you could not siphon gas out of a cap-less tank but perhaps you could just use the special funnel and stick the tube down?

Put a transmission funnel into the gas fill opening. Then run a siphon hose through the funnel and into the tank.
You’ll probably need 3-4 feet of clear silicone hose attached to a hand drill driven pump.

    ^ are solid suggestions.
When removed the fuel flap, and tried smelling the gas vapor, did it smell a bit like lacquer? if so, drain as much fuel.

If possible, I would siphon most fuel out.

Then add about 5 gallon of non ethanol fuel. Maybe mixed with BK44 or favorite fuel system cleaner.

if you live in dry desert type state, or car was stored in a climate controlled garage, I would be less concerned to drain the fuel.

Complete waste of time and energy. Drive it until 1/4 tank and fill it up.

Yeah, I’m diving my 360 rn and we worked on it over a year with a full tank of gas while it set. No problems and no noticeable decrease in performance. Same for my boat and jet skis that sit for almost a year at a time. I would drive it with no worries with a mind towards clearing that tank before it gets REALLY old. I’m not you though so you should obviously do what you’re comfortable with but siphoning gas that is old but still good would definitely be just a feel good move as it’s still fine. The sooner it’s driven the better imo.

If you suck that gas out, I'll gladly take it off your hands.

1/2" PVC water pipe will open the capless filler. I have not tried to see how long of a piece will go in before it hits a curve. You could start with a couple feet of that then put a hose through it and syphon. Probably the funnel in the tool kit will do the same.
