Funny observation, re the track etc etc. On the restart, when the last car reached the hairpin the safety was right behind it.

There is that, but also you don't change direction because you are about to be overtaken. That's inviting trouble.
There was plenty of space at that point for 2 cars to run side by side without contact.
Difficult to know what was in Checo's mind at that instant, but I sense a defense move.
Also, did Perez explain how a Red Bull was suddenly slower than a Haas?

It's still very narrow, and without much overtaking opportunities.

I propose the Monaco GP to be run on the Paul Ricard Circuit. :)

    Absolutely, it's simply window dressing.

I guess it will be difficult for Liberty to abandon Monaco, because the jetset, the sponsors and the European gentry love it and are attached to it. Most of them don't even watch the race, but soak the atmosphere as they relax on their yachts or conduct business without interuption. Monaco is to F1 what Winbledon is to tennis, Epsom to horse racing, etc ... a place "to be seen" for a certain coterie. The GP is just an excuse for these folks to gather in this unique location. This is fine to me, and I have nothing against it, but it's not conclusive to proper racing anyome.

    Dear Lando.
If you don't like the rules, band together AND CHANGE THEM.
    You're welcome.

You are confusing 'talking' with 'whining'.

Guys TALKED 30-40-50-60 years ago, only over the last 15 or so - since about the time Lewis got into F1 - has the whining really taken hold.
    Coincidence?
    I think not...

And social media has ****ed-up every sport on earth.

What does someones' location have to do with anything?
Nobody said they liked Miami's 'track' - because this is not a Miami thread.

Most everyone I know would LOVE to go back to the original tracks
as they were made prior to about 1979 - with SOME safety features
such as trees removed and barriers upgraded.

We are constantly reading about drivers that 'loved the old Kyalami, the old 'Ring,
the old Zandvoort', etc, and nobody is talking love about the street circuits from Detroit,
    Vegas, Dallas, Phoenix...

I LOVED the sounds of the turbocars I used to photograph - it was very nice
not going deaf with the sound of a Cosworth screaming by.
But I was talking circuits, not sounds.

Floridians, have no right to criticize Monaco as "embarassing" whilst Miami parking lot "circuit" displayed fake flamingos, fake ocean, fake yatchs, fake evrything....thats all. I read criticism of Monaco from a Floridian on this forum, and I could not let that pass.
And BTW it is not Monaco's fault that current F1 cars are FAT and Heavy. Make them the size if a Miata instead of a Suburban and there will be lots of overtakes....

No offence taken, its friendly banter imo:D

I just dont get the whingeing from the current crop of racing drivers, they give their soul to get into F1 and then moan their butts off about the most trivial of things!!

I was so pleased with the win! After the red flag I was praying for a boring parade, rather than a race!

However, I think they must do something to make it possible to race on a Sunday in Monaco. The cars are simply too big and heavy. I would be in favour of lighter, smaller cars with less aero dependency, even if it meant and increase in lap times. I'd be happy with this at all tracks as well, not just Monaco.

Charles proved on Saturday that he can drive a car at the extreme limit of it's capabilities around the world's most unforgiving track. He proved on Sunday that he could concentrate and make no mistakes for the full length of a Monaco Grand Prix. Both sets of skills make him a very deserving winner, but the Saturday skills were the only ones that were entertaining for the viewer.

Those thinking Monaco cannot be dropped or replaced:

    https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/can-monaco-stay-on-the-f1-calendar-post-2025/10616597/

--The overall smaller grandstand totals and the team motorhomes being crammed next to the harbour where Red Bull’s floats make it harder to gauge attendance levels for this event. But we noted how the grid didn’t feel quite as busy and chaotic as in previous years here, especially once the celebrity caravan had been led through the leading cars.

Plus, sources at various teams reported how from their perspective, a noticeable chunk of the sponsor business and schmoozing they’d previously be expected to conduct here is now taking place in Miami – F1’s other glitz-draped trade show event.

So, Monaco is already changing. Getting radical with its post-2025 future – because this race really is unlikely to go anywhere unless there’s another round of strained contract talks between Formula One Management and the Automobile Club de Monaco this time – isn’t all that outlandish.--

In sincerely hope that the Monaco GP goes after 2025. It's a caricature of a race.

Cevert's accident could have happened anywhere, the circuit didn't cause that,
    HOWEVER,
The circuit most certainly DID cause the death of Helmuth Koinigg a year later at the Glen - research it.

Going upside down on a guardrail vs. going UNDER a guardrail.
