    They still around?

I watched them live at the Big Day Out on the GC back in 2005 or 2006 from memory.

    They were good back then.

Awesome as always. Fantastic musicians. I’ve followed them from the beginning, almost 30 years now! Even flew over to Perth a few years back when they put on a show with the Perth Symphony Orchestra. Poor kids have been indoctrinated too, Piper calls their various albums “The soundtrack to my life” :D

They’re playing Mt Isa soon ;)

That is great to hear man! Very happy for you. :)

Wow, Mount Isa, Mackay AND Proserpine.

They must be broke playing in Proserpine or what? Population of around 2000 people lol

Mackay is only an hour down the road lol.

Thanks heaps for the heads up, if I am on days off I will definitely go. :)

I've just read Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors) book "Thirteen Ton Truck" about life inside the band. Arguably Australia's top live band for a decade, they struggled to survive and had to do endless tours in remote towns, playing to small crowds, including Mount Isa.

The book is both moving and informative, highly recommend.

Love The Hunters. Saw them a few times live in the late 90s.

Certainly one of the best Aussie pub bands of all time, for mine.
And like all good pub bands you really needed to see them live to properly appreciate how good they were.

Met the production manager on our trip to South America last year, Rob Miles.

We both loved drinking at the hotel bar in Ecuador where our favourite beer was Pilsner, best beer either of us had ever tasted ........ top bloke , he and I walked back to town from Machu Pichu (he did it easily, I nearly died)

His stories about H&C were funny but his love of birds surprised me :)

Me too. Have seen Mark Seymour solo and few times but he ruined it the last time I went with the majority the set filled with new songs (all ****e). Then to make things worse he went into a 20min monologue of sanctimonious left wing BS. FO mate and sing the hits

Cheers man, I haven't seen them live yet but they are great.

And thanks for the tip in regard to that book. I will try and find it.

I love reading about the 'backstage' stuff in bands and most other things.

Concerts are great, but I love the lead up to it before and after. Watching backstage stuff, sound checks.

"Rig run downs" is awesome, i've watched A LOT of these videos on Youtube.

    For example.......(the short version)

This was on tv the other day. I missed it, but I just watched it online now.

Brought half a tear to my eye when the old fella said the underground Hard Times Mines was built by volunteers and I thought of my Dad straight away.

My Dad and his mates, all retired at the time in their 70's, were happy to volunteer to help lay the railway tracks down there.

I haven't been for a look, but I will before I leave town one day.

    Absolutely!

From far left, Joe Campbell from England, Fritz Oeling from Germany, Timmy Conlan from Ireland and my Dad from Greece. What a combination of men whom all immigrated to Australia chasing a better life.

I reckon they had a better life here and definitely helped build Australia like all the other hard working immigrants at the time.

They are all gone now apart from Joe. Joe is in his late 80s and lives in Brisbane in an old peoples home now and has dementia unfortunately. His son still lives and works here underground with me, a good friend of mine and I ask him how his Dad is going every time I see him.
