You might be right on this one....I would say the one thing that I find interesting is that most of the high end / exotic buyers are All being Out Bided by foreignaffairsmotorsport... maybe this is just a coincidence that a dealer is picking up the most sought after cars? but just find it interesting....and the typical "I am out" and than coming back at the end tactic is odd...like the Ford GT action yesterday where he bought it for 903k REPLY・1 1 ~ End ~ Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
what if I told you that foreignaffairsmotorsports isn't even an 'end dealer', nevermind an end user? Those cars are going to be sold TWICE at higher prices each time before it lands in a garage of someone like us. [emoji6]
Is this the Foreign Affairs Motorsports in Pompano Beach? I use to see them a lot at track days i did
All I’m sayin is, I live in Pompano. Wait! What? Shut up Todd. That has nothing to do with anything. Coincidence only, seriously. I really don’t know, Mike. Seems likely though Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Yes, the Foreign Affairs Motorsports I am talking about is a repair shop and track day support business. Just wondering if this is the same people bidding/buying on BAT? Maybe there side hustle?
I believe they are the same. Todd is correct that a lot (not all) of the cars are being bought cheap and flipped to dealers and marked up. It’s pretty easy to track and an example is foreign affairs bought a 2018 911 GT2 RS on 4/9 for 303k. That was a great buy. It shows up at a Porsche dealership on 4/23 and it’s listed for 389k. Of course it was never registered to foreign affairs and it was just a dealer to dealer pass thru. The nice thing with BAT is you can click on any users and see all of the auctions they won. On any auction you can just click on the VIN and it will automatically open a new window with a google detach of the VIN and you can see where it is listed. With that being said there are a lot of end users that can get some great deals. If you don’t need financing and have transportation ready it’s an easy way to get cars at wholesale pricing. (My neighbor does it all the time). Todd is also correct in that the “average” person looking for a higher end car would rather buy from a dealer, get the financing and not worry about the transportation logistics. Todd, I want the record to reflect that I am agreeing with you, multiple times, in this post.
Summary: If you're willing to buy a Ferrari through BAT, its prices are reflective of that market. This is closer to a wholesale market than retail. If you want to buy your Ferrari through a dealer (as most Ferrari clients likely do), BAT is not a good indicator of the prices you will pay. If you want to sell your Ferrari, BAT may give you a good sense of what to expect. How did I do?
Very good lol…. So in short, BAT is a good indicator of ‘wholesale value’, not ‘market value’ … which has been my point all along. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The F8T that is currently on BAT is a great Build with a few exceptions ...For those of you with an F8 currently : how important is the Front Lifter and Front&Back Parking Sensors?...it's amazing how some well built Cars missed out on the critical /inexpensive options that at least to me seem like critical "Must Have's"... this guy even did the carbon engine covers but no lifter /or sensors Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The lifter is nearly essential for me given the geometry of my driveway apron. And occasionally I'll find other spots (parking lot entrances, intersections, etc.) where I'd be worried about bottoming without it. But the F8 ride height and overhang isn't crazy - it's less essential than in some other cars. And the lifter does add weight. As for parking sensors, I seem to be in the minority, but I really dislike them. I find them always annoying and are too sensitive to be helpful. As long as you have a backup camera, you'll be fine. That gives you a good view behind the car. And the side mirrors and the rear track are wide enough that it's very easy to see where your wheels are relative to a wall or curb when reversing.
Agree. I have lifter and rarely use but like knowing it’s there. The sensors are annoying as **** and don’t tell you anything as far as how close you are or how much room you have. They just make annoying noises for no reason so I turned the volume of them to the lowest setting and I can barely hear them which is the same as having none. So, no need for them. Same here. My F12 didn’t have a lifter and I never needed it. My F8 has the lifter and I never use it. I got the dealer installed skid plates under my from spoiler and I’ve never even scraped those. The lift is good to have in case you must have it I’ve just not come across any instances. The parking sensors are useless and annoying and the back up camera is just ok. I could do without both to be honest. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The rear parking sensors I do not pay much attention to. I can park! However the rear camera is helpful if backing into a parking space to watch the parking lot cub thing that would tear up the rear diffuser. My 488 did not have front lift. I could have used it and it did keep me from taking the car out to run errands sometimes due to some parking lot entry and exits to the street. My F8 has the front lifter and I find it useful, even here in Florida. We do have some sharp parking lot entry and exits to the street.
The lift is so driver dependent, as in where you live and drive, how often you drive the car, etc. I feel like the lift is something that is better to have and not need, than need and not have. Personally I like the sensors (they have better fidelity than the stock stereo after all) and the backup cameras (while they have worse resolution than my 1980s Atari game console) they do come in handy. TL;DR front lift sort of depends, but sensors and camera are nice
Todd, will see how this F8 Bids out and put your assumption's to the test and see if she will be coming home with me or ForeignAffairsMotors... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
TY! , will see how it shakes out, ForeignAffairsMotors has live/highest bids on over 50 Cars at the moment, a couple bids on over million dollar cars... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Doesn’t look like a dealer so let’s hope it’s an individual that got a great deal and will use the car!!
