Did you look at the pictures? It is a neglected mess....you can get a decent driver grade car for less than $250k.

They could have shined that up easily enough, but they left the leaves and dirt as to reiterate what’s in the description- major resto. Add that cost to the purchase price, I would think that would be over finished value or a break even.
Edit- But why 150k for paint on these? Never heard of this.

you are joking :) or want the car gold plated?

also it says that the VIN 25239 is not the actual VIN. strange that a professional seller then offer this car with not the original VIN??? can someone explain this to me?

the car looks a little high at the rear

Pretty sure you could electroplate it in gold for less than $150k.....that is over 4 lbs of golden goodness.

If a "frame off" resto is done (removing all glass, trim, replacing all rubber seals) then a paint would undoubtedly be north of 100K.

And the engine must also be full of surprises, "ballooning" blocks, damaged liners, broken rings and bad pistons, all new valves...

I believe the cylinder heads on the BB are not weak as they are in the TR - but correct me if I am wrong.

2 valves per cylinder on all BB. 4 on all TR so not the same.

A relatively nice BB is only 30-50k more. Putting the difference into that car won't get you far.

Been working on TR since they came out and have owned one for 20 years and this is the first I have heard the heads are weak.

Even Juniors House of Color doesnt charge 150 for a paint job.

    Whats a "Ballooning" block?

Liners, pistons and valves are all SOP for an engine overhaul. Doesn't matter if they are melted in a puddle on the floor, it doesn't change the price.

Where do you get this stuff?

For some reason Gullwing always allocates their cars a stock number and then puts it in the field next to VIN, so you never know the real vin unless you ask.
it’s the same on every listing if you look. what’s up with the rear ride height BTW? I suppose that’s just a minor item to fix whilst you are attending to everything else!

    Regards.

So what would be a fair offer considering all the unknowns? $140k?

I believe you also mentioned ballooning cylinders in the BB.

Huge difference between a cylinder and a block. Yes, every single one on the road has had that condition since new. While in 2024 we can do it better it was SOP in 1979.

Well, that was the asking price. I inspected it for a firend, who now owns it. It is a really nice and solid car, but was not a 220k € car.

When I bought my 308 years ago it looked similar to this BB. It took years, but we restored everything including the paint. Once again Peter at Gullwing has the wrong price on this car.

Wasn´t told the exact number. But reading between the lines of both sides, it was around your offer.

AR was a nice guy, but he said "best price is 215.000 €!"
so if he sold it for closer to 200k, argh.

    Congrats to your friend though.

Love the color combination. At $200K, I would say well sold.
