If the crashed car was 50k...maybe. But i think the upkeep may cost you 50k over 5 years!!
This is why I'll never buy a modern Ferrari like a 296. Surely these things will be saleproof 10 years down the track https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/dreaded-hybrid-system-failure.692640/
Agree - too complicated for its own good. I can fix all my cars (and bikes) with a spanner (and sometimes a hammer).
I distinctly remember when the 458 came out we heard the same BS about how they’ll be impossible to fix as they’re too complicated and therefore won’t be worth anything in 10 or 15 years. That prediction has turned out to be as accurate as most others on here…
Ok, I'm genuinely interested to see what happens with these hybrid cars once out of warranty. I just get the feeling the will be all too hard to own, much like 10 year old electric cars. BTW, I don't remember any talk of 458s being saleproof in the future, on the contrary I seem to remember terms like "instant classic"??
Therein lies the problem. I don't think the home mechanic or even independents will be able to sort these hybrid cars. You will be bent over and reamed by Ferrari whom will keep all the software etc exclusive to them
I think there is a law against that And remember when the SD2 analyser came out, there were some available on the net for sale so who knows what will be available in a few years
I’m interested too, but I reckon by the time there are a lot of these cars out of warranty there’ll be enough knowledge out there to keep them going. I don’t think anyone said 458s would be sale-proof, but there was a lot of talk around how “complicated” they were and particularly around the DCT gearbox being $40k to fix etc. etc. and therefore they wouldn’t be as desirable as the “classic” Ferrari's because people would be too worried about upkeep on them as they got older.
Not sure how long they’ve had this car, One less car on the road and a few parts locally for 360 spider owners at a wreckers in Smithfield . Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
