i recently learned that you are supposed to only push down on the F12/Cali window switches so to lower is normal push down the front part but to raise the window you push down on the back part. what everyone else does including myself is you pull up on the front part of the switch to raise the window thus leading to breaking off the older clip on switches.

usually it's valets who are in a hurry and apply way too much force upwards.

can anyone 3d print a silver rounded block with adhesive that can be placed directly in front of the window switches that will prevent anyone's fingers from reaching under the switch and pulling upwards?

attached is a crude illustration of what i mean. rounded edges would be better.

yes the 812 has the same center bridge with window switches in middle. however there was a redesign so the switch itself is now screwed on to the stalk whereas in the F12 it was simply clipped on with plastic clips. pulling up on the switch with too much force caused the plastic clips to break thus popping off the switch. however it was not intended to be pulled up on!

if you look closely at the switches it shows you arrows on rolling down and up... the emphasis on UP being to PUSH DOWN on the back side of the button. but most people including myself always pulled up on the part where you normally push down to roll the window down. blocking finger access would prevent this and force people to do it the intended way.

First I've ever heard of this. I've been pulling up on them (like any normal human being would) the whole time.
I have a 3d printer - will take a shot at modeling something to solve it. In the case that you do block the front of the switches to stop valets from pulling on them, you'll need to make sure you roll the windows up before giving them the keys. No way anyone would think to push down on the back of the button.

We can definitely help you with this. We just need measurements or possibly a mold of some sort to make sure it is 100% correct.

Holy crap. I have had my 812SF for three years and with this discovery by the original poster, it actually does work. I had no idea!! Pretty neat little feature. Now I don’t have to succumb to the 12 Cilantro….Thanks!!!

Never knew this! Been pulling up for 10 years. Maybe I'll get around to the radio settings or those overhead buttons some day. Thanks for the tip.

Thats just an excuse they made for a **** part.
Every single button and switch is felt and held and fondled and caressed for sometime before making it into production.

This is an excuse to say our parts don't suck. People do... If it was supposed to be a push here to open here to close it wouldn't have a giant lip to aide in lifting I. The front and there wouldn't be a giant recess at the leading edge to get your booger hooks under it to lift. It would be completely flat and horizontal with zero lips and recesses.

But the problem still exists so... There is that.

Hmmm, I have no horse in any race but I have to say I highly doubt Ferrari designed thoses buttons more to be pushed down at the rear than being pulled up at the front.
I ran my FF today: with it no doubt, it is not possible to push down on the rear of them, it made me thinking at this thread and I went to see the F12 when back home: in despite it is possible to push on the rear of the buttons it is also very uncomfortable.
For my part I will for sure continue to pull up gently instead of pushing the rear of the buttons in the F12, and why would they have built 2 different principles for 2 so contemporary cars?

Agreed, mine don't push down in the rear very easily. In my opinion it feels pretty clear the buttons were designed to be pulled up and pushed down on the front lip but can be pushed down as well on the rear as the design allows it to function that way. Anything with to much pressure will fail eventually. I've yet to have any issues with mine. Maybe I'll try to get used to pushing down the rear of the button to see how that feels over time. Good info though for sure.

Drove the F12 today and tried pressing the rear of the switch and convinced it is not designed to do so.

Yeah I tried this also and I think this may be like one of those social media life hacks that isn't actually a life hack.
