Lance your fired so we can save the company................oh wait..........Its been years and we have never turned a profit. Go sweep the yacht!!
Sorry but this is a company that needs to fold. Its product is dated beyond belief and 1 SUV wont save it. Good with sweat shop clothes but not automobiles it appears for Strolly Sr. Burns cash and has lackluster sales year over year. Sure -- new models. Its a debt slave.

Luxury carmaker Aston Martin on Wednesday reported widening losses in the first quarter, as the company stopped production of its core models ahead of a launch a new range of vehicles later this year.

Shares plunged more than 12% in early deals in London.

Adjusted loss before tax nearly doubled to £110.5 million ($137.8 million) compared to a loss of £57.3 million in the previous year. Analysts had expected a £93 million first-quarter loss, according to Reuters.

Revenue fell 10% to £267.7 million, while net debt increased 20% to £1.04 billion. The company’s hefty debt pile is a long-running concern for investors which has contributed to a steep fall in Aston Martin’s share price since its listing in 2018.

Analysts at Jefferies noted the “big miss across metrics,” flagging a 26% drop in volumes.

Aston Martin said Wednesday that the delivery of four new models in 2024 would power “significant growth” in the second half of the year and beyond.

Very sad, I would love to see a brand like AM be profitable in the long terms.
We need legendary carmakers to survive.

Wow a very LH thing to say FA. Watch out for the labels you will tagged with!!
Alonso will speak to FIA about F1 stewards' bias as "nationality matters"
Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso has doubled down on his feeling that his nationality is influencing how his on-track actions are being judged in Formula 1.

Alonso is right about nationality bias. Where he is wrong is he thinks the FIA are anti-Spanish. I do not agree. They are just extremely pro-british. They have been for the longest time and it's much worse since they are very pro Lewis Hamilton.

Mattia Binotto could be brought back(highly stress) as CTO(Chief Technical Officer) as that role has been vacant since the beginning of 2023. Binotto would be Dan Fallows boss.

As long as he will not be moved to Team Principal, this may not be so bad. Although even the cars had not been that impressive during his time with Ferrari.

Agreed. At least Dan Fallows is responsible for the car.

It's possible, again highly stress, that Newey comes on-board after his leave-of-absence....but that is still up in the air for now.

Unfortunately legendary car makers are stuck needing govt bailout/handout money (only available if you work with union and bureaucrats as instructed) and also suffer from intellectual laziness in the boardroom and C-suite. In other words, they’ve piled into ev production despite what everyone but they seem to understand - there isn’t infrastructure, raw materials, or living arrangements for the consumer that make “transition” doable. They are dumb AF and deserve extinction. Sadly. That’s how s—t works.

I wouldn't be worried about Aston Martin's future.
It's a company that went through several ownerships and bail-outs.

1913 Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford create AM
1920 Count Louis Zborowski invests heavily in AM to save it from bankruptcy.
    1924 Lady Charnwood becomes owner
1925 August Bertelli takes it over
1932 AM bailed out by Lance Prideaux-Brune
1937 Sir Arthur Sutherland buys AM
1947 Post-war David Brown, a tractor manufacturer buys and merges Aston Martin and Lagonda.
1972 Company Developments (William Wilson) become owner
1975 Aston Martin is sold to Peter Sprague of National Semi Conductors
1981 Victor Gauntlett of Pace Petroleum takes it over
1983 AM ownership passes to shipping magnate Peter Livanos
1987 Ford Motor Company buys AML as part of his Premium Brands (with Jaguar and Volvo)
2007 Prodrive rescues AML when Ford want to close its Premium Brands
2013 A deal is made with Mercedes-AMG agreeing to supply engine and components and buying 15% shares
2018 AML is listed on the Stock Exchange, but the share value plummets immediatly
2020 Lawrence Stroll rescue AML with his Yewtree Consortium

If Aston Martin goes turtle, I guess a rich Middle East investor will grab it.
Alternatively, a Chinese carmaker could get hold of it, as a halo brand, like they did with Volvo, Lotus, MG, etc ....

Lawrence Stroll didn't rescue AML, Ian Fleming and Albert Broccoli did. Without Goldfinger they would have perished decades ago.

Aston Martin is like Bentley, or Roll-Royce, they are in fact not very profitable, but always attract people willing to invest in them.

Maybe, not with our Westerners mentality and logic.
But being halo luxyry carmakers, they are quite a catch for Middle East investors, or Chinese car companies for whom buying them is a victory on the West. Also, buying European brands can be instrumental to invade our market with their products.
    The world is changing.

I think they helped generate enough public appreciation that AM survived until Ford bought it and pumped unknown $$'s into it. Ford built it into a great company with great products that looked awesome. Since they sold it, it's been a slow slide back to (almost out of) business as usual.

    I object to that !! What a load of B******* !!!
Ford bought these 3 brands (Aston, Jaguar, Volvo) at an opportunistic time, in hope they would be their milk cows.
Ford didn't invest enough and let the companies decline. Ford didn't understand the luxury market.
In fact they neglected grossly their European Premier Brands, and made a mismatch with their own products.
We ended up with a Jaguar X type that was a Ford Mondeo under the skin! !! FFS !!!Jaguar buyers walked away ...
As for the DB7, it was a Jaguar project that Ford transferred across to Aston Martin, hurting both brands.
When asked about that subterfuge, one Ford executive had the gall to say publicly the car could be sold at a higher price with an Aston Martin badge !!
Ford didn't understand anything about brand DNA and customers expectation. They sell cars like ice creams.
When Aston Martin directors asked for credits to create a V12 for their top of the range, Ford refused and said they would take care of it.
Next, they cobbled together 2 V6 Ford Mondeo engines and offered that to horrified AM engineers !
The engine was too long, too heavy and couldn't substain high revs: it was an absolute disgrace.
Aston Martin, Jaguar and Volvo lost customers and sales. Mercedes, BMW and Audi took that share of the market.
Finally Ford was forced to sell their European Premier Brands to bail out Ford USA that was in trouble.
Ford has been in decline for decades, with shamnolic management.
They closed most of their factories in Europe, and recently canned their best-seller in several countries.

Dude, that was great (seriously). Do you have a similar treatise for GM? I think American legacy car makers are dumb AF. You just put it in words for me.

I was born 74 years ago and lived in England for many years, so I had time to see the development, or should I say decline of our car industry. Over the years I had a couple of Jags, knew quite a lot of owners and dealers through clubs, some became friends. I met a few Aston owners too, being neighbour to a professional boxer who had them and use to give me lifts sometimes. I used to attend sometimes AMOC race meetings by invitation thanks to him, and chat with many AM owners. So, beside the stats, I would say I had a good idea of the strength of feelings about what happened during Ford ownership.
It's always a tragedy when a luxury brand, or a quality product from the cottage industry falls into the hands of big corporation, because the aims change absolutely. For Jaguar and Aston Martin, the Ford takeover was almost a kiss of death.
After Ford purchased them, they sent US accountants; that went down like a lead balloon ! That I witnessed.
I think the Ford management would have been excellent had they bought an ice cream company, or a supermarket chain, but not luvury brands.

I am not qualified to talk about the US car industry, not knowing enough about it.

Fair enough, but perhaps Ford saved Jaguar and Aston from extinction? I know that Volvo quality went in the dumpster after Ford took over.
