12 C looks like something we'd see in the next 'Batman' movie iteration.
Unless it has a carbon tub, there is a discernible difference in rigidity between an open top and a coupe. Well, not everyone cares for that. My point is that there is a reason that manufacturers offer both options. For me, a cabriolet makes sense only as a boulevard cruiser, not a sports car. But other people beg to differ.
Agree. I'm a coupe guy. Don't remember ever having the top down in my SL 55 20+ years ago..... That being said, the spider is the better looking of the two.
Some drivers and passengers despise wind slap and burning sun. No sense of security and ruins the ride. Even sun roofs are ridiculous. Yet riding a motorcycle is heaven.
Fixed that for you. I am ex-Army, Armoured Corps, riding in 50 tonne behemoths, that carried 50 shells and 1000 litres of fuel, which could send you into orbit if they exploded. Yet, you can't convince me to ride a bike for all the money in the world. I 'd rather play Russian roulette...
Maybe the flaps are necessary because of the really useless bulbs on top of the rear fenders? Aero experts? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Form follows function. They have really no function, esp. as they ‚sit‘ on the fender instead of widing it. And maybe they are bad for a good aero so the flaps are really needed to hold the car in the road from 35 mls upwards
You can see the explanation of the aero starting on page 29: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/e5z046hkz9vhvt48eezem/Open-NP-Ferrari-12-Cilindri.pdf?rlkey=4lwvmh8xs0pygz4tmr6m7dzmn&dl=0
Wifey doesn’t like top down in my 458. Must be coupe for me with next purchase if she’s to accompany my escapades. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Those are just haunches, a design element to make the car appear like a powerful feline ready to pounce. Many many Ferraris and other cars have them, including the Purosangue and there is no way they necessitated air flaps behind them.
Crazy thought here … just leave the roof up when she’s riding with you and put it down when it’s just you.
Oh wait, you can do that? Dang, all this time I haven't put the top down I could have had the air blowing in my hair. Thank you so much for that tip!
True. Only rookies drive top down in summer between 11 am and 5 pm. After that it’s tolerable but night time preferred. Winter months it’s glorious. But…I still order a coupe for the 12C. Need to keep the missus excited about f-cars and top down doesn’t work [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Bulbs on rear fenders are not really larger that in other front engined Ferraris such as 812 or Roma. Those just get exaggerated in 12 Cilindri as the straight line on the doors runs directly to them according to Vision GT styling concept. The bulb is actually all over the tyre (not just above), but the straight line running from front to back just masks part of it behind the door. I don't know how much space is actually required above tyres in 12 Ci, but typically cars have quite a lot of room reserved for sudden movements.
Also, I think rear fenders in particular require some additional room for sound insulation (also on top of them) as they are in the cabin area close to passengers.
Hello, selling my gts to made the same on 12 cilindri ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to imply with small 13" wheel size, but assuming you just mean narrow and tall tyre? Are you sure that you are looking proper high quality pictures of 12 Cilindri? Can you try 3D configurator to see if you have seen the profile of those bulbs incorrectly? I still don't think the reserve room in rear fenders differs significantly from the Roma. Notice that 12 Cilindri has 46 mm taller tyres (diameter of combined wheel + tyre) while roof is still 10 mm lower than in Roma. Of course the bulbs look more massive because of this.
