LaFerrari replacement: v12, no hybrid, less power than SF90stradale?

Part of the original goal for the F250 was to beat the Valkyrie. unsure if that's still a goal

 

Which I get. For a long time, performance and emotion could go hand in hand (F50). Now with all of the crazy amounts of tech and environmental regulations, a lot of the emotional connection from driving the car is not what it was. We went from stick shift to DCT. We went from NA screaming V12s to V6TT hybrids. Sure, we got more performance, but more emotion? I don't think so.

That being said, I would love to see Ferrari have a Nurburgring record with this car, but they don't seem to want to go there to prove anything which kind of defeats the purpose of saying how into performance they are IMO. Sure, they have the Fiorano, but what's the point of a good lap time there if the competitors can't go there to compete?

Most of these SuperCars spend their life parked and trailered to an event, or in the more active owner's case, driven to a local cars & coffee type meet and the local Ferrari dealer show. A Turbo V6 will do just fine -- and it reflects the current F1 environment.

 

Nurburgring times have never really been something Ferrari cared about. nor is Nuremberg important to everyone.
Ferrari Won the 24hr of Nuremberg (with a non-hybrid V6 TT) last year that's far more important to them.

 

Respectfully, the discussion was about Enzo and nobility isn’t the reason he favored the configuration that powers dreams.

The commercialization of the particular configuration was a marketing strategy that has served the company very well. Don’t confuse his motives with the marketing genius who made selling Ferrari cars a viable business and luxury brand.

Let’s not erase his legacy, business perspective and passion just to sell a few more million dollar cars. A V6 Ferrari is suitable for a Ferrari halo product in this day and age - “if not there is a nice spot for you at Lamborghini!” or some other company that specializes in making expensive toys!

If this new HALO car won't absolutely destroy anything on a track, then it will be an utter failure.
You can understand them using a **** engine + **** electric motors, only if the performance will be otherworldly, otherwise it's a failure, they should have just used a NA V12.

 

It won't do just fine at all, the TT V6 is garbage in comparison to a NA V12.

 

I have to guess that if their TTV6 powered 499 won the LeMans in its first year, this will be a great engine.

 

Now for something new.

I took the various online spy shots and input them into the prompt line of ChatGPT to see what it would generate as the car. Remember that this is AI generated on its first attempt. With no modification by me in terms of text prompts or image editing in any way. And it produced this. You can see some of the errors it made with multiple logos, etc. A fun exercise to try AI of ChatGPT on. Humans would have not made these errors but also wouldn’t have been able to create this image in less than one minute. An expert user of ChatGPT could probably have come up with something more realistic than I did by just inputting spy photos and telling it to generate a resulting car.

I also did this same exact process using Google’s AI/GPT equivalent. I was surprised to say the least and felt pretty bad for Google!

The weird thing with this photo is that it places the Yellow Ferrari logo on the side of this car. I had it remove the yellow logo as I didn’t want that pic floating around. I was also specific as you can see that I wanted a photo realistic image. Too funny and sad for Google!

If I remember correctly, the SF90 could not use all of the HP potential of its front electric motors. Each front motor could put out 133 HP. The rear motor could put out 200 HP. So there was 466 total potential electric HP.

The issue was the SF90 battery could not discharge enough power to let the front motors drive all of their combined 266 HP power. Also, from what I remember, please correct me, there was an issue with the front motors spinning the front wheels faster than a 130mph. I remember reading that in the manual and not understanding exactly why. That speed drew less than the combined 266 front electric motor HP. If I am incorrect here, please reply because I think this is very important.

As a result, the power to the front motors would be cut above a certain speed for the front motors which also was in line with the limit for the battery draw for all of the motors. So the max power to electric motors was a total of 217 HP out of a potential 466 HP. So the motors had another 299 HP potential.

So perhaps battery system innovation for power draw and/or electric motor will allow for significant HP gains for future electric motors from Ferrari.

Advancements here could be a huge boost for hybrid for Ferrari.

 

The front motors of the SF90 run out of revs at 210 kph / 130 mph and thus disengage at that speed. Total power remains at nearly 1000 CV though (985 to be precise), as the battery's juice is redirected to the rear motor (205 CV), which doesn't have such a problem as it drives the gearbox and not the wheels directly.

If they don't plan on destroying everything on a track, then they should have used a NA V12, the puny TT V6 is GARBAGE.

 

That V6 (well, a similar V6 anyway) has won Le Mans and another V6 powers their F1 racer. If you understood Ferrari, you would know that their hypercars always mirror the top echelon race cars of their era, showcasing the firm's racing prowess and transfer of technology between track and road. That V5 is cutting edge technology, whether you like it or not.

 

why Koenigsegg turbo V8 sounds so good? do you agree that it's best sounding modern turbo engine?

 

It isn't. Has no emotional feedback. Any average car has a V6.

 

They are not going to V6tt hybrid because it is a superior platform. They're doing it because of regulations. F1 forced people to go to V6 and the environmental regulations are becoming stricter and stricter. Despite all of this Ferrari put their sacred V12 in a ****ing crossover of all things.

Which F cars do you own and drive that form the basis of your opinion?

 

I think when someone consider V6 soulless it is not because V6 actually is but because the combined effect of weight, safety devices, setups, and so on.

I think 991 and 997, 996 gt3s are all full of soul. Because of the combined effect of those things mentioned, however, 992GT3 feels soulless.

On the contrary I feel SF90 clinical and soulless when compared with 296.
Also 296 has more soul than 992 GT3.

Exactly. Its why I have more fun driving my 296 than my SF90. But my SF90 is always good for a trip to the beyond of performance experience. So I enjoy both. And before there is commentary about my liking of just electrics, the rest of my F cars are evenly split amongst the best NA V12 and V8s. But the Pista is always so much fun to place. It always comes down to the whole car.

My opinion used to weigh heavily on the engine. The first hour after driving my 296, my opinion changed. Its a phenomenal car to drive. Hopefully anyone making definitive comments drives one or driven it at least 100 miles. “Driving a friends car/test drive/reading reviews” doesn't count as a robust drive.

 

An average car doesn't make 819 horsepower and 546 ft-lb of torque.

Perhaps you are used to driving any average car with a V6. That would explain why you know what an average v6 feels like.

 

even if it had a N/A V12 it won't be that car you want. Ferrari do not make exotics model like Bugatti and koenigsegg either. What I will say is this V6TT will have better performance than if it had been a V12
