Interestingly, the 750 is more reliable and the controls are much more intuitive. The haptic BS in the 296 is a disaster. They seemed to resolve this in the 12c with the center console but the Puro is suffering from the same crap. I have both on order but I think I am going to cancel my GTS unless my dealer commits to giving my the VS version in writing.

This brings up a very good point. Why worry about your profile and buy all of the commodity cars when you wont get an allocation for a special version. I have had about 15 F cars, still have 3, 2 of which are challenge cars and my profile is nothing. Why take the hit unless you want the car to use or you are working towards something bigger? I had this conversation today with my dealer and asked that he cancel my orders unless I get a guarantee on the next VS. After 3 V12's and an early Puro order they skipped over me on an early order for a 12C. Only buy the car you want to use and dont mind the depreciation because these new cars will not do well over time.

Understood but you added an extra year. The 488 came out in November 2015 as a 2016 model year. Mine arrived in February 2017 as a 2017 model. That’s 15 months of actually time and agree with you that it would be considered 2 years old. You may have misspoken but you said roughly 3 years old in post #711. (There were no 2015 model year).

the example i was giving for the 296 is the exact thing. They are 18 months since first ones delivered but 2 model years old. I’m recall seeing the same number of 488 for sale back in 2017 that I’m seeing now with the 296. I remember my dealer having 4 or 5 no mile preowned 488 on the showroom floor in 2017 and about the same with the 296 now.

I dont recall 488s or any other models having so many for sale in such a short time. This is very surprising. Same for the SF90, you would think with how owners here really enjoy that car that more people would hang on.

Thats why I was asking, to see if any had any data. My recollection is there were a lot but no clue on the numbers and how they compare.

We also have to factor in that in 2018 they made 9,252 cars and in 2023 they made 13,663. That’s a 33% increase in cars. Of course there would be more cars for sale and I guess the question is if it is 33% more for sale 2 years in to production of a certain model?

I think you owe $1 to yourself. You said “I’m betting RNM”. @Jo Sta7 agreed that it will be RNM for sure. I even pointed out that no one thinks it won’t be RNM.

Don’t think there was ever a question that it was going to end with RNM. However, fully agree that it was a rough auction and it just proves that huge MSRP will almost always lose big money. When you spend almost 200k in options you are going to take a hit, 125k shy of msrp. Just a bit outside. lol.

It may be a fantastic car, but there are a ton of them for sale and they’re not moving.

I thought it would get to 425k or so. Yikes. My 399k msrp GTB will be up at a F-dealer soon, no clue how that is going to do. At least it was a 500k+ window, good lord....

I’ll also add this. I’ve looked at every 296 on the market, and I do think my spec is better than any of them. Obviously I’m biased but I don’t see one that I look at and say, yes, that’s special. They’re relatively cookie cutter or standard. I also think the cars NEEDS a lighter interior and metallic paint to really stand out. It can be sort of bland otherwise. In Florida this past week I saw a pearl white 296 with carbon wheels and yellow calipers. Looked amazing on the road. Needs a special spec like that to move at a decent price.

there’s one for sale online in Rosso Scud that I’d like, it’s quite beautiful. But dark interior and nonmetallic. And for $447k I’d much rather have my spec for $10k more. However I did have Rosso Scud on my 458 speciale. I liked it more than I’d have thought.

Most of the specs on the market are god awful. Mismatched exterior carbon, boring colors, no hifi, etc. These cars are very spec dependent at this price. Who wants to pay $500k for a car with a base stereo? Ridiculous.

And this AF car on BaT? Very small market segment for a car that ugly.

Base stereo is fine by me. No stereo would be even better! Only time I ever interact with it is to turn it off when I start the car.

True, but pretty ridiculous at these car prices to have the "good" stereo as an option for $6K.

In Europe (but not so much in France, for whatever reason) it now seems easy to find a used 296 GTB for less than € 300K - which is definitely several € 10K under their prices as new.

For 3-4k with Mike @ Scud Audio, you can easily put in a hidden system with Focal speakers that will blow away the "upgraded" Ferrari system. I realize most people won't even think about that, but I purposely get the base system as it is far easier to bypass and put in something wayyyyy better.

Side question though: how is the EU economy? Is the luxury market strong, generally?

100% agree on metallic paint and if not light interior at least a contrasting interior - I did light (sabbia, Honolulu) for both cars though. I hope my spec commands a good price later because it's not silver/black or the demo Imola over tan/black. And it has all of the tech options including full ventilated seats.

That said, in hindsight, I could have saved almost $45,000 by getting free solid black and wrapping again, rather than a $37k color and PPF.

Hifi is meh at best. Next time I am getting base and upgrade components behind head unit aftermarket. Way better use of funds.

Europe economy is not specially booming, but not sure how it could be related to the 296 second hand market. 296 asked prices are significantly lower in Germany than in France, and the economy is not obviously looking better in France than in Germany.
