    Newey don't write technical rules.

On the contrary, they want to be closer to the dominant ideology even if it’s counterproductive in the end.
Their only purpose is to looks like « green ».
They really don’t care about old fanatics like us.
Money and social networks are kings in this sport right now.

It's a too small audience, and dying out too. :)

I don't blame Liberty and the rule makers: Always look into the future, and don't repeat the past.

There are a few things I like:
    - downforce levels down 30%
    - reduced ground effect
    - diffuser power neutered
    - width down 100mm
    - floor width down 150mm
    - tyre width reduced
It's not enough, but at least it's a start.
That should make the cars more difficult to control (I hope!).

After 10 races half the downforce will be recovered by race 20 80% - more passing?

I hope it's just the poor render, but that car looks fat and stubby. Zero sleekness. Why can't they get anything right.

How that since the aero are more restricted ?

Also, It will be interesting to see which PU will be best (Audi, Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault or RBP-Ford) at the start, and how long it will take the others to catch up ! Moving from 120kW to 350kW of electric power is quite a jump.

To put it in perspective. 30 kg reduction is like a 265 lb person losing 10 lbs. That is just not enough.

I like the idea of reduction of downforce. Naturally smaller cars will make less downforce. It sounds like the ratio of upper body downforce to underbody downforce is swinging for the worse. I dont care for that.

The worst part is the massive increase in power from the electric motors. Car accelerates with 1000 hp, but starts to fully harvest and cuts half the power. That's like throwing on a parachute. I liked seeing cars drag race down the straights at maximum power. Now it will be 90% down to energy deployment.

What is 'Manual Override' and what are the rules for its use?

It gets the Fast and the Furious crowd excited.

see, they' switch to manual, because it's faster...manual mode will give +100 hp.

    wait....that's a great idea.

what if they had to go back to manual shifting, but were allowed 200hp more.

GO BACK is the expression that irritates me in your proposal.

I never wants to "go back", I prefer to go ahead and try something different.

We got rid of manual gearshifts in F1 for very good reason.

There is almost nothing on this planet that is better now than it was at one point. Formula 1 has gone out of orbit to how much worse it is. Looking ahead is more electric, less fuel, less tires, less creativity, less noise, less actual racing. More street circuits, more gimmicks, more flash, more sprints, more consumerism. I would happily go back to a much more exciting formula 1, especially if you take a few of the good things we know today and apply it to the past.

Your opinion; I happen not to share it.

I don't think you are serious saying "almost nothing on this planet that is better now than it was at one point" .
I would say medical science, for a start. Without the progress we have made, people would still die young, not knowing what happend to them. Agriculture, without the progress made in the last 2 centuries, I doubt we could feed the world population. Etc, etc ...

Automatic gearboxes allowed more people access to driving, who couldn't cope with the complexity of manual shift.
Automatic gearboxes are more reliable than manual ones, and also dispense with the use of a friction clutch.
In F1, paddleshift gearboxes allowed drivers to keep both hands on the steering wheel all the time, to achieve seamless gearchanges, and thus gain time.

I am absolutely serious. There are some technological advancements here and there, most that don't help the common man. MRI's, CT scans, Xrays, etc all have been around for a long time. Maybe they are more efficient now, but the people in need of them sometimes need to wait over 6 months to get one. I don't want to get into a convo about the world's issues though. Going back to Formula 1. Can anyone really say they prefer today's F1 over V10 powered 300 km sprint races? That isn't to say everything then was better. Currently qualifying format remains as a winner. I don't think there is a fan out there that has wished for less powerful ICE's, more electrical requirements, bigger and heavier cars. Yet, here we have it.

    What they need is::
    a) 2400mm wheelbase 3000mm maximum length
    b) 600 Kg MAXIMUM weight
    c) allow the engineers to discard allowed PU parts deemed too heavy.
    d) return to 13" wheels

2400?? That's a lot wider than the current cars.

I thought the mid 2000s cars were about perfect in size. 600 kg and 13 inch wheels 100%

Alonso: Making 2026 F1 cars 30kg lighter an "impossible target"
Fernando Alonso says he is sceptical over Formula 1's goal to make the 2026 cars 30kg lighter as the reliance on electric energy increases.
