Hi, Is it normal for the battery to lose about 10% of charge on daily basis? That seems a bit excessive? Appreciate feedbacks Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Sounds very high. Do you have any accessory (laser/radar detector/dashcam) installed by any chance? Even so, when you shut down the car, it shows you on the dashboard the number of days you have left if unplugged, that number on mine is usually something like 20+ days.
Mine has sat for 15 days without being plugged in and fired right up (hybrid still showing 15 miles of range). This was while I was in Italy just a few weeks ago. The car was in my garage that keeps about a 77-79F ambient temp this time of year. Temperature makes a huge difference I have noticed.
No. Look at videos along these lines..find out how much drain and which circuit is causing it. Then repair or ship out accordingly
Appreciate the general parasitic drain diagnosis instruction. I am curious if the high voltage battery power may be used to charge up the 12v system? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Thanks all for the feedbacks! I sure will get a closer look and am going to have dealer look at it also. I did unplug the dashcam and that did not affect the drain rate. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I found out from a dealer yesterday that the SF90 and 296 are the first two Ferrari models that never completely shut down so there is always a constant drain on the battery and hence why they recommend keeping them plugged in. In my experience the car communicates with the factory at least twice a day as it's status is interrogated to populate the data on the app. I also discovered that when plugged in to a wall socket powered by the grid, if there is a power outage then the car can discharge it's power back into the grid via the wall socket and that is how they can end up with a 12V battery that is not charged up enough for the car to be started. That is pretty much the scenario that happened with my GTB.
You say "I also discovered," but has this been verified by the dealer (Service), or the factory?? I'm trying to get my head around how this is even possible.
I presume it must have an inbuilt SIM to communicate as the app updates with the list of vehicle checks including battery levels, powertrain, tyre pressures, brake wear etc. On the app there is a display showing "UPDATED X HR AGO" The longest interval I can recall seeing between updates was 13 hours. The service is included for the first 3 years so presumably there will be a subscription renewal when it expires to cover the SIM cost. https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/auto/myferrari-connect It was the Service Manager of a dealer who told me this. A number of new electric cars have the ability to feed power back into the grid through bi-directional charging but require a special charger to do so it seems. I doubt the charger supplied with the 296 has this ability so he may well be wrong.
The read-only data transfer system activates only when the engine is turned on with the exception of plug-in hybrid models in which battery data is updated even when the engine is off. from your website!!
Mine discharge alot quicker during winter(below 15c), about 10 days max. But after spring(above 22c) it can last 20+days
When my 296 GTS if fully charged the high voltage battery stays at 100% for around a week and then drops 2-3% every day. So it lasts easily over a month without plugging in. What I would actually like was a different "long term parking" mode. Mine stays fully charged for 2 weeks when plugged in and then drops to 75% over a couple of days where it then stays. Ideally, I'd like it to charge only up to 75% when plugged in in "long term parking" mode.
Is this communication limited to just 296 models or are other current models equipped with similar capability?
While this is the 296 thread, I am speculating that this may be applicable to SF90? Anyways, following up on this matter, I brought the car to dealer to fix a hot air from driver side vents issue. After a software reset it appears to have fixed high voltage battery drain issue as well. 6 days later I am down just 10% instead of almost 10% per day. Hopefully a future software update will fix it for good Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I wanted to modify subject line so it's clearer that this is for the high voltage battery in a 296, however w/o success. Appreciate any pointers
